BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

THE IRON LADY Movie Review By: RAMA

THE IRON LADY Movie Review
By: RAMA

So what did RAMA think of THE IRON LADY, was she as tough as she looked? Make sure to follow him on Facebook and Twitter.

If I could sum up this entire film in two words, those words would be ‘one must’. I couldn’t keep track on how many times I heard the characters say ‘one must’, but then again, I don’t know much about the real Margaret Thatcher, because one must know her well enough to judge whether the words ‘one must’ are appropriately or over used in this biopic. All joking aside, sadly this rather average biopic doesn’t fully capitalize on the great performances by Meryl Streep and Jim Broadbent.

It occupies itself with excessive flashbacks and ghostly encounters. At one point I thought I was watching ‘A Beautiful Mind’ because the film seemingly makes Thatcher look like she’s lost her mind..

THE IRON LADY is a surprising and intimate portrait of Margaret Thatcher (Meryl Streep), the first and only female Prime Minister of The United Kingdom. One of the 20th century’s most famous and influential women, Thatcher came from nowhere to smash through barriers of gender and class to be heard in a male dominated world.

I was too young to remember Thatcher’s 11- year reign as Prime Minister. Growing up, I heard people say that as prime minister of England, she was controversial, some say she was stubborn and ambitious. So once again, as I said earlier, I don’t know much about the real Thatcher, and so I was seriously looking forward to any insight that this film could give about Thatcher’s public service side and to a certain extent, it does a decent job of doing so. To a certain point, the film is informative and educational.

To me, she seems like the kind of woman who doesn’t take crap from nobody, she doesn’t have a problem speaking her mind, but at the same time, may not be as visionary as what any country would expect their leaders to be, which makes her defensive when confronted with such new ideas as European Union.

But I can’t say that I enjoy the film’s format. I understand that it wants us to see this woman who can’t let go, both the memory of her husband and her governing moments, I understand that!
The film wants to show her loneliness, her missing her husband Dennis, her wishing things could still be like the way they were, when she had authority and when people would ask her for her opinions
I understand that!

But that part takes away from focusing more on her rise to power and eventual downfall.
Her haunted interactions with her ghost husband eventually gets too silly and comical.
Perhaps it would be best if the film could just focus on one intense storyline like the Falklands war, and the tough decisions surrounding it, instead of trying to tie in her personal life with her work, going back and forth like a ping pong game.

What can we say about Meryl Streep that hasn’t already been said?! That woman practically perfected on-screen acting, she could play any role the world throws at her. And Jim Broadbent gave an award worthy performance of his own, I have no complaints about the key actors whatsoever. But what could be an inspiring film, THE IRON LADY instead is a biopic that could easily be forgotten.

The Iron Lady is more a love story and a person spiraling into dementia than an historical documentary of Margaret Thatcher. This was a movie that I didn't think I would like, but it turned out to be something very special.

Sex Tape Review: Overly Sexual, Rude, Vulgar, and Absolutely Hilarious

The raunchy Sex Tape will divide audiences and critics, but who cares? Sex Tape suggests a growing practice among loving partners: that of making a raunchy testament of their escapades for posterity. But what happens when that evidence gets seen by friends, neighbors, and even the mailman? This is the plot that pits Jay (Jason Segel) and Annie (Cameron Diaz) in an effort to secure every iPad gift Jay has given, his record company playlists being the envy of the recipients, but which has also inadvertently spread the video to every device. The reason for the act - termed in the movie as pulling "the full Lincoln " for its three-hour length - stems from the couple's non-existent social life, brought on by the constant demands of their children. The couple has a lot to lose: a burgeoning business relationship between Annie and Hank (Rob Lowe) could end if the iPad she's given to Hank exposes the video, and so the couple sets out to reclaim and wipe the incrim...
