BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

FarmVille Film On It's Way From Toy Story Scribes

Videogame movies are becoming so common that we're even getting one based on Angry Birds. Making a film based on a plotless puzzle game pitting birds against pigs is a stretch, sure, but it's nothing compared to the news that we might see a flick based on FarmVille sometime soon. (And you thought those Facebook invitations were annoying.)

In an interview to promote their upcoming game Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure, writers Alec Sokolow and Joel Cohen (who co-wrote a little flick called Toy Story a while back) dropped a not so subtle hint about a project they're working on with Zynga, the developer who has produced FarmVille, Mafia Wars and a host of other addictive games that plague your social networking feed.

"So, yes, we will continue writing movies. We are also working on several new and very exciting opportunities. We're in conversations with Zynga to do something with one of their brands. Can't really say too much on that front yet, but 'Old MacDonald' didn't have a factory, if you get our drift."
Corny farm reference aside, that's a pretty clear sign that something FarmVille-related could be on the horizon. The previous rumor seemed to be that if Zynga did make a film based on one of their games, it would be Mafia Wars, but maybe the idea of tilling all that virtual soil on a big screen was just too tempting.

Zynga hasn't commented on the news, and there's been no official announcement of any films from their company yet. Still, if it did happen, would you watch it?

Naked Gun Reboot On It's Way

If you've seen Naked Gun - or The Naked Gun: From The Files Of Police Squad ! to give its full title - you'll know that it's a comedic masterpiece that springboards off astonishing levels of silliness and random spoofery. Leslie Nielsen's Frank Drebin is a loveable buffoon for the ages, even when he's discussing his dicky prostrate. Do not, however, expect the Ed Helms -starring reboot to adopt exactly the same tack. According to Naked Gun director/co-writer David Zucker, talking up Airplane!'s screening at Nashville's Wild West Comedy Festival, the new version will not attempt to hit the same spoofy sweet spot as the Zuckers and Jim Abrahams' 1988 comedy. "It won’t be like the Naked Gun that I did," Zucker revealed. "It may be good, but it won’t be that kind of movie. They’re going to use the title. They asked me if I wanted to produce. They’re nice people, but they don’t want to do that style of spoof that I do." One departure
