"Zombieland" Writers Talking G.I. Joe Sequel. Get Ready For Some New Faces

"Zombieland" Writers Talking G.I. Joe Sequel. Get Ready For Some New Faces

I was always a fan of G.I.Joe's as a kid and was super excited when they announced they were going to be making a film,“The Rise of Cobra." But wow was that movie bad. I would have walked out the film if I hadn't paid money for the film. Best part of the film was Ray Park (Snake Eyes) action scenes.

I am hoping for a better film with the sequel and the only reason behind my joy is that we got Super talented guys penning the film.

Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick the guys behind "Zomibeland"

They assured us that their “G.I. Joe” sequel will be something closer to the roots of the toyline.

So much so, that Reese has already made his own G.I. Joe film… well, kinda. “My very first movie was a ‘G.I. Joe’ movie; I used the little ‘G.I. Joe’ action figures [as my actors],” he said, laughing. “I was like 9; the sad thing was that I figured I could do stop-motion with a video camera - and we know that stop motion doesn’t work with a video camera for anyone who’s ever tried it, especially the old video cameras – so, I realized pretty quickly that it wouldn’t be a seamless motion. I’d set them up, deliver the lines.”

I really hope they do something with Marlon Waynes and all the horrible CG that was in the film.

“We can say that we will be faithful to the first film,” Reese explained of their plans for the sequel. “We will not be ignoring events from the first in the second.”

The best thing that I have heard is that they will be introducing some new characters for the upcoming film. Really hoping to see Crimson Twins (Tomax and Xamot)

“We’re going out to Pawtucket, Rhode Island to the Hasbro headquarters next week,” Wernick said, explaining that the trip will help dictate who those new characters will be. "[We’ll] talk to the toy guys, take a tour of the facility, see all the old toys, the new toys and just get inspired.”

“We’re going to be open to what they have, and we’re presenting them with what we have; it will be a meeting of the minds,” Reese said of the early stage in their script development. “This is a dream come true. If I could get in a time machine and go tell my 11-year-old self this he’d be dancing, running through the street doing cartwheels… ‘G.I. Joe’ should be fun, it should be a ride. That’s what we feel like ‘Zombieland’ was, and we hope to bring that to the ‘G.I. Joe’ franchise also.”

Naked Gun Reboot On It's Way

If you've seen Naked Gun - or The Naked Gun: From The Files Of Police Squad ! to give its full title - you'll know that it's a comedic masterpiece that springboards off astonishing levels of silliness and random spoofery. Leslie Nielsen's Frank Drebin is a loveable buffoon for the ages, even when he's discussing his dicky prostrate. Do not, however, expect the Ed Helms -starring reboot to adopt exactly the same tack. According to Naked Gun director/co-writer David Zucker, talking up Airplane!'s screening at Nashville's Wild West Comedy Festival, the new version will not attempt to hit the same spoofy sweet spot as the Zuckers and Jim Abrahams' 1988 comedy. "It won’t be like the Naked Gun that I did," Zucker revealed. "It may be good, but it won’t be that kind of movie. They’re going to use the title. They asked me if I wanted to produce. They’re nice people, but they don’t want to do that style of spoof that I do." One departure
