Tom Hanks Enters The Garden Of Beasts

Universal has optioned the movie rights to Erik Larson’s nonfiction best-seller In the Garden of Beasts for Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman to produce via the duo’s Playtone banner. Hanks is eyeing the project as a potential starring vehicle. The book tells the true tale of William Dodd, the United States' reluctant and mild-mannered ambassador to Berlin in 1933, and his daughter Martha, a vivacious socialite who had romantic affairs with a Gestapo official and a Soviet spy. Dodd and his family at first naively navigated life in Nazi Germany (Dodd’s daughter was excited when Hitler kissed her hand) but they slowly gained awareness of the mounting brutality around them. The book, whose full title is In the Garden of Beasts: Love, Terror and an American Family in Hitler’s Berlin , was published in May. This isn’t Larson’s first brush with Hollywood; the author is known for writing The Devil and the White City , another nonfiction tome in development by Leonardo DiCaprio and hi

Poster For Zach Braff's "All New People"

Maybe you enjoy watching filmstars do their stuff, but sometimes wish the surroundings were less distracting. Or perhaps you can't afford a 3D, but would like the same effect for less. Well, theatre might be the solution! And with that in mind, here's an exclusive look at the poster for the Zach Braff written-and-starring All New People . Which is a play, not a film. The Garden State director and Scrubs star already brought the play to Broadway, then starring The Hangover's Justin Bartha , but now he's coming to London and taking the lead role himself. We're told that the play concerns a 35 year-old who wants to spend time along in his parents' luxury apartment, but finds his plans to mope in peace interrupted by a succession of interlopers. The play opens at the Duke of York theatre in London on February 22 next year. So if you fancy being a bit cultural (since anything on stage is automatically cultural up to and including pantomime) check it out Pleas

THE ARTIST Movie Review By: RAMA

THE ARTIST Movie Review By: RAMA So what did RAMA think of this Black and White film? Please make sure to follow him on Facebook and Twitter . THE ARTIST is beautiful, definitely one of my favorite films this year. I can watch it again and again. Writer/director Michel Hazanavicius has crafted a timeless masterpiece, a film that deserves best picture nomination along with acting nods for Jean Dujardin and Bérénice Bejo . It’s a silent black-and-white film with masterful music accompaniment, a charming, irresistible story and an excellent production that gives you the feel of elegance and authenticity.. Hollywood, 1927: As silent movie star George Valentin wonders if the arrival of talking pictures will cause him to fade into oblivion, he sparks with Peppy Miller, a young dancer set for a big break. In the midst of remakes and sequels out there, THE ARTIST stands out as something unique, original and well-made. Not only is the film silent black and white but it’s also pres

DARK KNIGHT RISES 6 Minute PROLOGOUE Description

RAMA got an e-mail this fine Monday morning from a source that claimed he had seen the 6-minute prologue of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES ’ and he’s also got details on BANE, played in the film by Tom Hardy. Take it with a grain of salt.. Bane in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES Nolan has significantly rewrote the story of Bane from the comics. He is raised by Ra’s al Ghul and his up bringing mirrors that of Bruce Wayne. It’s a mirror of Bruce, except it’s darker and twisted. Bane is trained to be an assassin for the League of Shadows. He kills political figures that are deemed unfit by the LOS. So he is a bit of a Che Guevara/ Jason Bourne type character. A revolutionary and an assassin. He comes to Gotham to start a revolution by revealing the cover up dealing with Harvey Dent and killing the Mayor, among other key political figures. Kenneth Branagh Would Return To Marvel Universe

Though he wasn't exactly the most likely of choices, Kenneth Branagh managed to turn Marvel's Thor into a fun, blockbuster addition to the Marvel movie canon. His name won't be on Thor 2 when it hits theaters in 2013, but Branagh says that if the timing were right, he'd love to go back to the Marvel universe. In a new interview promoting a number of projects, including the acclaimed new release My Week With Marilyn, which sees him return to the big screen as an actor, Branagh confirms that it was really only timing that kept him from returning to the world of Marvel's God of Thunder. For Branagh, directing Thor was a chance to do something he's never done before in all his years of Shakespeare adaptations and indie films: helm a massive production. "Across 20 years of making films, I hadn't spent a significant amount of time in that community, and I wanted to do that," he says. "Of all the American comics, Thor was the only one I was
