Karl Urban Confirmed For Judge Dredd Reboot

Karl Urban Confirmed For Judge Dredd Reboot Karl Urban has been confirmed for the leading role in Judge Dredd by producers Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich of the new film. Urban had been rumoured for the role already, but in a Movie-Con Q&A this evening the pair confirmed that he has been cast for the film, shooting in South Africa soon. “The main thing about Dredd is that it’s a fantastic comic that was completely messed up 20 years ago," said Macdonald. "Our idea is to make a very hard, R-rated, gritty, realistic movie of Dredd in Megacity, so we’ve got to get the tone right. He’s not going to take off his helmet. His bike is going to feel real. He’s going to hit people and it’s going to feel real." "There’s been a change in comic-book movies; they were treated unseriously and now they’re treated seriously. We’ve cast a guy called Karl Urban to play Dredd. We’ll be shooting in Johannesburg, it’s being directed by Pete Travis, we’re shooting with the

"Old Spice Guy" Isaiah Mustafa Lands First Movie Role

"Old Spice Guy" Isaiah Mustafa Land First Movie Role Isaiah Mustafa , currently better known as the Old Spice Guy because of his insanely popular adverts (see the original below), has managed to turn web popularity into film roles. He's now joined the cast of Tyler Perry 's next big outing, Madea's Big Happy Family , and also landed a small part in Horrible Bosses . To tell you the truth I have never seen or wanted to watch any of Tyler Perry's films before but with the casting of Mustafa maybe. Shit I don't think he could even make me want to watch on of Perry's films Mustafa was already due to work with Perry in a small role in For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf, but has now switched from that slightly more indie project back to Perry's mainstream Madea franchise, and a much bigger role. He'll play a guy called Calvin, who has two tickets to that thing that you love is struggling with his marriage a

Sly Talks Expendables Sequel

Sly Talks Expendables Sequel It's not to late to start talking about making a sequel to a film even before it is released in theaters.  Sly and investors are hoping that the film will open huge (which I think it will) so that they can roll out a sequel to the movie. If this does perform, I think it will open a little more liquidity in funding the sequel. I have an idea ready to go. People think doing a sequel is easy, but it's not because you need the element of surprise. I'm going to try to do something that's quite radical. I am excited to see this movie that all males who grew up in the 80's always hoped for the Big three in one movie together. Then you add in Jason Statham, Jet Li, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, Dolph Lundgren, Giselle Itie, Eric Roberts, David Zayas and Steve Austin. Sounds like a great combination. We'll find out at the box office if it worked and if we get a sequel. To read a great review head on over to TheArnoldFans . Here's th

The Tillman Story Trailer And Gets A Rated "R"

The Tillman Story Trailer And Gets A Rated "R" The Weinstein Co announced today that the filmmakers are appealing the " R " ratings which the MPAA just gave The Tillman Story documentary about to be released in theaters August 20th. Of course, far be it from Weinsteins to miss an opportunity to generate controversy and enjoy the ensuing free publicity for their film.  But in this case director Amir Bar Lev and producer John Battsek have an excellent argument when the rating will be appealed on August 12th in Los Angeles. According to The Weinstein Co, the MPAA gave the film that "R" rating based on its “ excessive language ”. “Of course there is excessive language,” states John Battsek. “This is a film that follows a truly exemplary family torn apart by the death of their loved one and the barrage of government deceit they encountered in their pursuit of the honest truth. We should be looking at this film as a way to show our younger generation the pow

John Belushi To Get A Second Life

John Belushi To Get A Second Life John Belushi may be getting a (second) second life on the big screen. "The Pursuit of Happyness" screenwriter Steven Conrad and "The Hangover" director-producer Todd Phillips are developing a biographical film about the late comedian's life. Warner Bros. recently acquired the rights from Belushi's estate. Conrad will script the project and Phillips will produce, though he has not yet committed to directing it. Alexandra Milchan and Bonnie Timmerman are also producing. In a typically difficult process that saw the rights deal come together, then fall apart, then come back together again, the project would be the latest attempt at a full-scale biopic about the " Saturday Night Live " cast member and film star who died of a drug overdose in 1982 at age 33. Belushi's life was famously detailed in Bob Woodward's 1985 biography, " Wired: The Short Life and Fast Times of John Belushi. " That
