I'll be honest, I'm not a Will Ferrell film fan - his work on SNL is another matter entirely. Ferrell built his career on Celebrity Jeopardy! and Spartan Cheerleaders, but most of his films haven't matched up. Elf was mildly amusing, Blades of Glory disappointing, and Step Brothers was boring right out of the gate. But there was one Ferrell film I'd watch: Anchorman . Kick-Ass 2 Review By: MattInRC The wild Kick-Ass 2 delivers all the fun and gore of the first, even if it betrays some of its morals. Comic book movies have followed a parallel path with the Sci-Fi & Action genres ever since Bryan Singer's X-Men : due to the nature of the characters, it's perfectly acceptable to display implausible violence. Whether it's watching an entire city leveled or some fantastic move by a superhuman or mutant, we've been willing to play along. The flashback comedy The Incredible Burt Wonderstone goes far beyond telling a tale of magicians competing for Vegas glory: it's a film that could have been made 20 years ago, a fact which might put off audiences who've been trained to accept lesser quality. In our age of raunch, nudity, and an almost-anything-goes kind of approach, things have gotten a bit...well...predictable. One can only see so many nude male body parts on a screen, or be witness to yet another sexual-religious reference before those and the dozens of other low-brow employments (with only the most basic storytelling included) become boring as well. I am not sure he’s going to say yes, but Jim Carrey is being courted by Universal to play a showy supporting role in Kick-Ass 2: Balls To The Wall , the Jeff Wadlow-directed sequel to Matthew Vaughn’s crazy superhero movie. The character is called The Colonel , and he helps galvanize the team of misfit super heroes assembled to fight evil. The sequel brings back Chloe Moretz, Aaron Johnson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Nicolas Cage . Carrey is a big fan of Matthew Vaughn and his original Kick-Ass film. Here, he wore the Kick-Ass costume for a musical duet with a bearded Conan O’Brien. But dealmaking is dealmaking, and this is far from a sure thing, at this point just a great idea. The last time Universal dabbled in the dark sequel arts with regards to Jim Carrey comedy vehicle Bruce Almighty , we got 2007’s floptastic Evan Almighty , which did little to help Steve Carell’s blossoming film career. But since even that critical dud managed to drag in around $175 million worldwide, the studio has decided to try again, hiring Hot Tub Time Machine writing duo Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel to take a crack at a direct sequel. And this time, they’re hoping to snag Carrey himself. For those who don’t recall the 2003 film, Almighty saw Carrey as a down-on-his-luck TV reporter who demands an apology from God when his career takes a bad turn and his girlfriend ( Jennifer Aniston ) leaves him. Olivia Wilde and Steve Buscemi are in talks to join Burt Wonderstone , New Line’s magician comedy starring Steve Carell . Jim Carrey and James Gandolfini are already in negotiations to join the cast. The project is set in the world of rival Las Vegas magicians. Carell is a more traditional magic man who is dethroned by a hipper illusionist doing dangerous tricks and breaks up with his partner then must find a way to rediscover his love for magic. Carrey is playing the magician who represents the new face of magic while Gandolfini will be an owner of a casino. Wilde will play Carell’s love interest, who at first is his assistant but later works for Carrey.  Buscemi will play Carell’s longtime friend and partner who quits the act. The movie is scheduled to go before cameras in January. Veteran TV director Don Scardino is making his feature debut on the project, which is being produced by Chris Bender and J.C. Ferrell, Washington And Murphy On The List For the second straight year, Will Ferrell is the most overpaid actor in the world, and not far behind are a slew of other male comedic actors. According to Forbes magazine, Ferrell's movies earned only $3.35 for each $1 the star was paid. Shia LaBeouf , on the other hand, is paid $1 for every $81 his movies earned, so he's the actor determined by Forbes to give the most boxoffice bang for his salary buck. In making its determination, Forbes looked at the three most recent movies of each actor on its Celebrity 100 list. It added up boxoffice, DVD and television revenue for the three films, factored in production budgets and came up with an operating income for each of them that it then compared to each star's compensation. In Ferrell's case, Land of the Lost, Step Brothers and Semi-Pro were used, while The Other Guys, which performed better than the other three, was released after the June 1 cutoff date for this year&#
