Will Smith In Talks To Play The Genie In Disney's Aladdin

Deadline reports Will Smith is in talks to take on the genie role made famous by the late Robin Williams in Disney’s live-action Aladdin from Guy Ritchie , we hear. The adaptation of the animated feature follows the studio’s strategy of bringing its classic animated titles to life and so far it has been a goldmine, most recently with Beauty and the Beast which has already grossed over $1B worldwide. Smith had previously been in talks with Tim Burton about Dumbo but that did not materialize and we’re told these talks are also early. Like Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin will be a live-action musical and that would fit well with Smith who is not only an actor but was known to the world for his musical prowess as The Fresh Prince rapper before he hit the little or big screen. The production is gearing up for a long, six-month shoot, so that is one consideration. It is supposed to start in the U.K. in July and wrap early next year. John August (Big Fish) scripted the story based on t

Final Trailer For King Arthur: Legend of the Sword

Acclaimed filmmaker Guy Ritchie brings his dynamic style to the epic fantasy action adventure “ King Arthur: Legend of the Sword .” Starring Charlie Hunnam in the title role, the film is an iconoclastic take on the classic Excalibur myth, tracing Arthur’s journey from the streets to the throne. When the child Arthur’s father is murdered, Vortigern ( Jude Law ), Arthur’s uncle, seizes the crown. Robbed of his birthright and with no idea who he truly is, Arthur comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city. But once he pulls the sword from the stone, his life is turned upside down and he is forced to acknowledge his true legacy…whether he likes it or not. Starring with Hunnam (FX’s “Sons of Anarchy”) and Oscar nominee Law (“Cold Mountain,” “The Talented Mr. Ripley”) are Astrid Bergès-Frisbey (“Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides”) as Mage; Oscar nominee Djimon Hounsou (“Blood Diamond,” “In America”) as Bedivere; Aidan Gillen (HBO’s “Game of Thrones”) as Goosefat Bi

#Aladdin Live Action Movie To Be Directed By Guy Ritchie

That Disney would plan a live-action spin on 1992 'toon Aladdin came as no great surprise, since the Mouse House has been slowly working on drawing from its animated back catalog for new versions. But the man in talks to direct might raise a few eyebrows: Guy Ritchie . When it was first reported, the plan for Aladdin was to focus first on a prequel explaining how the chatty powerful genie (famously voiced by Robin Williams) got into the lamp in the first place. That script had Damien Shannon and Mark Swift at work on it, but Deadline's update of the movie's status mentions Big Fish writer John August as responsible for the current draft, so it may have crept closer to being a straightforward re-working of the main Aladdin tale. Ritchie seems an unusual choice for the material, though he's dabbled in magic and mystery with the Sherlock Holmes films and his latest, King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword, is more of an adventure tale, so perhaps he's trying to stretch h

First Look At King Arthur: Legend of the Sword

King Arthur : Get your first look at Jude Law as a medieval villain, EW scored the first images from the film. Did anyone really expect pub-brawl auteur Guy Ritchie (Snatch) to deliver a straightforward, hither-and-thither take on the once and future king? Of course not. In King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (due out March 24), he’s dirty and beat up and rugged. See more images after the Jump... And even though Charlie Hunnam might still pull a sword from a stone to begin his journey to the throne, his Arthur is a little more street than his forebears. “He’s a bit rough around the edges, but he’s basically a survivor,” Hunnam says. “There’s definitely a harder edge than people would imagine.” That edge serves him well when dealing with his tyrannical uncle, Jude Law’s Vortigern, who’s got more than a bad boy appeal to defend himself. Charlie Hunnam's King Arthur won't be a 'good guy' from the beginning As the murderer of his brother and Arthur’s dad Uth

Guy Ritchie’s #KingArthur Gets Pushed Back

Deadline is reporting Guy Ritchie ’s untitled King Arthur film is moving to Presidents Day weekend. Warner Bros said today the film starring Charlie Hunnam as the British folk hero will open February 17, 2017. It’s part of a plan to capitalize on kids on winter break holidays — not just here in the States but also overseas, where the title is being prepped to roll out throughout Western Europe. The pic had been slated for July 22, 2016. After seeing the success of February hits last year like 20th Century Fox’s The Kingsman: The Secret Service , which made $128.3M at the domestic B.O. and another $286M abroad, WB is hoping to emulate similar success with Ritchie’s version of the classic tale. Furthermore, the director’s Sherlock Holmes series has played strongly during the winter months. On its new date, King Arthur rubs up against Sony’s Bad Boys 3 and Fox’s YA trilogy finale Maze Runner: The Death Cure. Taking King Arthur’s place on July 22 is the newly titled New Line horr

Movie Review: 'The Man from U.N.C.L.E.'

The bland spy caper The Man from U.N.C.L.E. compromises its agents in the field. Review by Matt Cummings If there's one thing that can be said about Director/Writer Guy Richie's breathless directorial resume, it's that he's always been able to entertain while keeping his unique vision for a film intact. Even if they're not to everyone's liking (I personally love his take on Sherlock Holmes ), one can never criticize his casting and the twists he throws in as a writer. Unfortunately, something's missing from his current project The Man from U.N.C.L.E. ; it comes across as too old for younger kids to remember and not much like the one that tore up evening television in the mid-1960's. When the art thief Napoleon Solo (Henry Cavill) is forced by the CIA to carry out spy missions to expunge his criminal record, he runs into the towering KGB operative Illya Kuryakin (Armie Hammer) during an operation in Cold War East Berlin. Could Charlie Hunnam & Idris Elba Join The Knights Of The Round Table?

From the looks of it, Guy Ritchie ’s King Arthur and his valiant Knights of the Round Table could be cancelling an apocalypse or two. How so? Well, with Idris Elba already circling a role, Deadline reveals that Ritchie has picked Charlie Hunnam to play Arthur himself. No contracts have been hammered out just yet, so it appears Hunnam isn’t a lock for the role, but it’s certainly the sort of thing he could do well after his years sitting at tables with modern-day knights. Even if they were actually criminal road warriors riding metal steeds into battle in TV’s Sons Of Anarchy… It seems the film is currently called Knights Of The Round Table: King Arthur, and Warner Bros. is hoping that it’ll spawn a franchise that lasts for six planned films, sprung from the brains of Ritchie and Edge Of Tomorrow producer Joby Harold, who wrote this initial script. If Hunnam does lock in a deal, he may be reuniting with Elba, his Pacific Rim co-star. The once and future Loofah Luther is want

Armie Hammer To Star In "Mine"

Armie Hammer may not have seen the career boost he might have expected when The Lone Ranger failed to connect with audiences, but he’s still booking films. Variety reports that he’ll star in a psychological thriller called Mine . No, the film won’t see him playing a live-action version of the seagulls from Finding Nemo . He’s actually set to play a soldier who finds himself stranded in the desert after a failed assassination mission. Exposed to the rigours of the harsh environment, he’ll have to battle life-threatening dangers and psychological trauma as he tries to survive. We're guessing there might be landmines involved as well, but possibly we're overthinking the title there. Fabio Guaglione and Fabio Resinaro are set to co-write and direct the film, aiming to star work in the autumn, with The Conjuring 's producer Peter Safran overseeing the shoot. We’re just hoping Hammer doesn’t have flashbacks to his Ranger days in the desert. Next up for the actor is Gu

Tom Cruise Drops Out Of U.N.C.L.E. To Concentrate On MI:5

Tom Cruise has exited as the lead in The Man From U.N.C.L.E ., the remake of the classic TV series that Guy Ritchie will direct for Warner Bros. Cruise was scheduled to star in the film with Armie Hammer , but he has stepped out of the picture to focus on producing and starring in Mission: Impossible 5 . Paramount and Skydance are now planning to begin shooting the latest installment of that franchise before year’s end. Warner Bros has a script they like, and a top director who’s expecting to direct U.N.C.L.E. in the fall. The timing proved too difficult and so Cruise stepped out to focus on M:I5. Warner Bros will now go hard looking for the lead of this movie, which is inspired by the original TV series ran from 1964-68, with Robert Vaughan and David McCallum playing Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin, two agents of the United Network Command for Law Enforcement. With gadgets and their wits and charm, they fought the evil forces of Thrush. Hammer, who’ll be seen shortly alongside

Guy Ritchie Sails To Treasure Island

Warner Bros has attached Guy Ritchie to direct a new version of Robert Louis Stevenson’s pirate tale Treasure Island , and has set Alex Harakis to write the script. Ritchie will produce the film with his partner Lionel Wigram and Langley Park’s Kevin McCormick. It was Wigram who originally set up a stylized version of the classic novel, much the way he did Sherlock Holmes, which Ritchie directed. He set it up before he and Ritchie became partners. Their first move after partnering was to take on The Man From U.N.C.L.E., after Steven Soderbergh dropped out of the film. Please Leave A Comment- Source- Deadline

SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS Movie Review By: RAMA

SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS Movie Review By: RAMA So what did RAMA think of the movie? Make sure to follow him on Facebook and Twitter . And 2011′s movie for the easily amused is.. SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS . I thought the previous movie was enjoyable because it presented Sherlock Holmes in a new, refreshing, and renaissance form, a man with many skills, but watching him do his business again in the sequel is a waste of time and money. Robert Downey, Jr. ’s portrayal of the man who solves crimes by way of deductive and logical reasoning gets even more ridiculous this time around. He’s a complete buffoon, he’s gotten more careless than Jack Sparrow. And the bromance between Holmes and Watson has turned from hilarious to uncomfortable and disturbing. One would even question Holmes’ mental health or if he suffers from any type of autism or A-D-D. This movie is a mess, a couple of bumbling bickering bantering characters combined with excessive us
