Fox Searchlight has set Paula Patton to star in Baggage Claim , a comedy that David Talbert has adapted and will direct from his bestselling 2003 novel. Patton will play flight attendant Montana Moore, who at 35 is the oldest woman in her family not married. With her sister tying the knot, Montana and her fellow flight attendants become determined to put a claim check on a husband in 30 days or 30,000 miles. The film will shoot in September and it will be Talbert’s second time behind the camera. He wrote and directed First Sunday for Screen Gems, which was based on his play. Talbert is an underrated resource at a time when urban-themed films are in high demand after the success of Think Like A Man. Like Tyler Perry, Talbert developed a following in the black community by writing and touring his plays, the most recent of which was What My Husband Doesn’t Know, which played in 40 cities. Shocking, unexpected, raw, explosive, would be some of the first things that come to mind. She is poised to join James McAvoy and Vincent Cassel , who are both in negotiations to play the male leads in a film that will start production in September. McAvoy's in talks to play the inside man in an art heist that goes wrong. He runs afoul of an accomplice ( Cassel ), and Dawson will play a woman who develops an unusual relationship with both men in a thriller that is as moderately budget and edgy as Shallow Grave and Trainspotting. John Hodge wrote the script. Deadline was first to reveal Trance in early May, when Boyle decided to work in a follow-up to 127 Hours even as he prepares to direct the opening ceremonies of next summer's Olympics in London. Thanks To A Boy Named Harry Harry Potter's broom was turbo-charged this year, as the schoolboy wizard's latest film adventure helped Warner Bros. fly well north of $2 billion to repeat atop the annual domestic boxoffice rankings. Warners projects a $2.99 billion domestic tally and nearly 20% market share through Dec. 31. But as certain as the picture is at the pinnacle of year-end rankings, other top positions remain cloaked in uncertainty. Headed into the final frame, Paramount sits second with $1.44 billion and a 14% share, while Sony is third with $143 billion and a similar share.
