Deadline is reporting that Jessica Chastain is back in the mix to play a starring role opposite Robert Downey Jr in Iron Man 3 . The role is a sexy scientist every bit as smart as Tony Stark. Chastain, who last year starred in T he Tree of Life, The Help, Take Shelter and The Debt , was originally offered the role but it looked like she was going to be preoccupied making a movie with Joel Edgerton and Samantha Morton. I think that movie was The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby. She also had scheduling issues involving the Kathryn Bigelow-directed Sony Pictures film about the hunt for Osama Bin Laden. Marvel then began lining up meetings with actresses like Diane Kruger, Gemma Arterton and Isla Fisher . But all that has changed as Chastain’s movie has been pushed, the Bin Laden scheduling was worked out, and it looks like she’s going to get the role after all. Are you ready for your first official look at Colin Farrell as the new Doug Quaid ? He's a little thinner than Arnold Schwarzenegger's version, but Farrell's got the "what the hell's going on" stare down to a science! The new Total Recall is directed by Len Wiseman (of the Underworld series) and takes place in an area of nation-states that include Euromerica and New Shanghai. It's here that factory worker Douglas Quaid (Farrell) begins to believe that he's a spy but doesn't know which side has hired him. The first official photo from Total Recall appears in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, where Farrell describes the movie as "much less jokey" than the 1990 version. John Cho (Star Trek) has joined Total Recall , Sony’s remake of the 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger sci-fi action film that begins shooting Monday in Toronto. Cho will play McClane, the smooth-talking rep for the mind-messing company that tempts Colin Farrell’s Douglas Quaid to implant fantastic memories into his brain. Bob McClane  was originally played by Ray Barker in the " Total Recall " “ Bob McClane ,” a Rekall manager and sales agent who convinces Quaid to buy an “Ego Trip” memory implant. The man comes to believe he is a secret agent and ends up on a Martian colony, where he fights to overthrow a despotic ruler controlling the production of air. The new story ditches the Martian storyline and instead involves nation states Euromerica and New Shanghai, with Douglas Quaid (Farrell) a factory worker in the latter who begins to believe he is a spy, although he doesn't know for which side. Kate Beckinsale has been offered one of the female lead roles alongside Colin Farrell in the Sony Pictures remake Total Recall .  She's been offered to play Lori , who was portrayed in the 1990 Paul Verhoeven-directed actioner by Sharon Stone . In fact, that role really launched Stone's star after she transformed from the happy spouse of Douglas Quaid ( Arnold Schwarzenegger ) into someone completely different. Both that role and the role of Melina (played in the original by Rachel Ticotin) has drawn high interest from actresses. There are two major female roles in the film, and several top actresses are vying for them. In another win for Liam Neeson and his adult fans, Warner Bros. and Dark Castle Entertainment's action-thriller Unknown scored a surprise victory in besting Alex Pettyfer teen sci-fi adventure I Am Number Four at the President's Day box office. But overall, the downturn at the domestic box office continued, with revenues off 30% from President's Day weekend last year (which fell a week earlier). Unknown opened to an estimated $21.8 million from 3,043 theaters through Sunday, according to Rentrak. It's on target to gross around $26 million for the four-day holiday weekend. A resounding 89% of the audience was over the age of 25 -- and 54% over the age of 50. Neeson scored a similar victory with Taken, distributed by Fox. Well why not with the success of the first two movies ($800m worldwide box office receipts ) Jerry Bruckheimer is keen to go, Nicolas Cage presumably likewise, and they have discovered that Carlo Bernard and Doug Miro are at work, right now, on the script. Bernard and Miro both wrote Prince of Persia and The Sorceror's Apprentice Which stars Cage and directed by John Turteltaub, who made both National Treasure films.
