LEGENDS OF OZ: DOROTHY'S RETURN Review. It’s A Fresh New Tale

LEGENDS OF OZ: DOROTHY'S RETURN Review By: Sue It’s a fresh new tale filled with beloved characters, and new likable ones. Everyone has Oz on the brain, from Wicked still packing theater seats, and Once Upon A Time traveling to Oz and bring some of it to reality. Capitalizing on that love and adoration is the newest Oz filled tale Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return . Filled with magic and packed full of the beloved characters from the original and a few delightful new additions, the movie tries its hardest to live up to the original, and while fun and entertaining it doesn't quite capture the heart of The Wizard of Oz . Dorothy Gale returns to Kansas to find it devastated. While many years have passed in Oz, to Dorothy it has only been days. When the entire Land of Oz finds itself in grave danger, her old friends: the Scarecrow, Tin Man, Cowardly Lion find a way to bring Dorothy back to Oz to save it. On Dorothy's new journey through Oz, she meets new friends

Melissa McCarthy's Tammy Teaser Trailer

Melissa McCarthy knows what works for her in terms of comedy. As Bridesmaids, The Heat and (to a lesser extent, reviews-wise) Identity Thief have proved, it’s slightly wacky characters who are still somehow grounded and relatable. It’s territory she’s firmly back on for her latest, Tammy , and the teaser trailer has shown up online. Tammy finds McCarthy as the title character, a woman whose placid, ordinary life comes tumbling down around her when she’s fired and discovers that her husband has been cheating on her on the same day. Stunned by the revelation, Tammy decides to head off on a road trip with her hard-drinking, potty-mouthed grandmother Pearl ( Susan Sarandon ). This first teaser doesn’t show Sarandon, instead focusing on one scene and allowing McCarthy to dominate. Clearly needing some extra cash, Tammy decides to rob a quiet late-night fast food restaurant, and… well, let’s just say she’s not exactly a master criminal. Nor does threatening people appear to come na

Emile Hirsch To Play John Belushi Untitled Biopic

Emile Hirsch has been cast as John Belushi in Steve Conrad’s untitled Belushi biopic. Conrad wrote the script and is directing the indie drama, which tackles the iconic comedian’s life as an embodiment of the glory and tragedy of the American dream. The film will explore the height of his fame with films like The Blues Brothers and Animal House , and as a key player in the 1970's on Saturday Night Live , to his shocking death at age 33 in 1982 at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles. Emjag's Alexandra Milchan and Bonnie Timmermann, Film 360's Scott Lambert, and Judy Belushi Pisano are producing. Conrad wrote the script based on the book Belushi written by Judith Belushi Pisano and Tanner Colby. Dan Aykroyd , one of Belushi's best friends and frequent collaborator, will exec produce. Conrad and the producers are looking at a spring 2014 shoot in New York. The casting continues a career renaissance for Hirsch , who was at one time pegged for major stardom by s

Ghostbusters 3 Is Close According To Dan Aykroyd

Sony has yet to sign off on the long-awaited third installment, but it's getting closer, despite Bill Murray's decision to not participate. Good news, Ghostbusters fans: The third installment in the franchise is still being planned. The bad news? There's still that sticky matter of getting it approved, funded and produced. In a new interview with Esquire , series co-creator (and vodka salesman) Dan Aykroyd says that despite all the bumps in the road in trying to create a second sequel over 20 years after the first, the franchise's producers have agreed on a screenplay draft and are "closer than we've ever been" to making the film. And no, it does not include Bill Murray , who famously decided not to play Peter Venkman for another go-round. Yet legally, Aykroyd says he no longer needs Murray's permission to make the film, despite his producer rights. "He abrogated his rights by sort of, by saying, two years ago he said, 'I don't w

Dan Aykroyd Talks Ghostbusters 3

The absurdly charming one-time Ghostbuster and Blues Brother Dan Aykroyd was in the Empire office today for a webchat, and as well as shaking the hand of everyone in the building (including a bewildered delivery man) and being an all-round hero, he also answered a few questions. As you might have guessed, a couple were about the much-talked-about Ghostbusters 3 , and here are some interesting tidbits about just that. [Talking about the reclusive Rick Moranis ] "If we can get the script to Ghostbusters 3 right, then it would definitely have Moranis as a major component. None of us would want to do the movie without having him as a participant." Even more intriguingly, Aykroyd hinted that Bill Murray may not return as Peter Venkman, and that the character could be played by a different actor, a la Jack Ryan. [Talking about Ghostbusters 3 generally] "The script must be perfect. We cannot release a film that is any less than that. We have more work to do."

Blues Brothers Headed To The Small Screen

Variety reports that Aykroyd , along with John Belushi ’s ex-wife Judy, have owned the TV rights to the characters of Jake and Elwood Blues for years, and that they’re now shopping the prospect of a Blues Brothers series around the US networks. The package so far includes a pilot script written by Aykroyd, former Saturday Night Live scribe Anne Beatts, Wayne Catania and Kieron Lafferty. The plot will see the musically inclined pair freshly out of jail, with Elwood on the hunt for his real father. While the intention is to find new actors to play the brothers, Aykroyd will be involved as the voice of their parole officer. After debuting on SNL in 1978, the Blues Brothers sketches became one of the earliest breakouts from the show. Elwood (Aykroyd) and Jake (John Belushi) formed a touring band and starred in 1980’s classic John Landis comedy built around them. Despite the fact that Belushi died in 1982, Aykroyd has never quite let the idea of the duo die with him. On the positive si

Ghostbusters 3 Casting News

Ghostbusters 3 Casting News As you’ll have heard, Ghostbusters 3 is a lock for a Fall 2011 start . And casting is going to kick off soon in Chicago, New York and Los Angeles. FFA has the casting announcement, saying they’re looking for actors… but don’t specify which roles. Upon reading those reports that Anna Faris is onboard I dropped a contact at Sony a line. Asked whether he knew anything about Ms Scary Movie being onboard, he replied “Dunno. First I’ve heard of it. Heard Will Forte ’s name mentioned and Bill Hader , but not Faris. I’m not in on all that thou

Columbia Pictures Doesn't Want Reitman For Ghostbusters 3

Columbia Pictures Doesn't Want Reitman For Ghostbusters 3 Seems like Columbia Pictures doesn't want Ivan Reitman to direct the upcoming film Ghostbusters 3, they feel that they should go in a different direction and get a younger director for the film. In the same sense as they have done to the Spider-Man franchise by hiring on (500) Days of Summer director Marc Webb. But hold on Columbia,Reitman's old contract — made at the height of his and Ovitz's powers — still gives him exceptional creative control over the series, including director approval. "Those deals were made in the eighties,” explains one insider. “So his rights in this circumstance have a great deal of teeth.” Therefore, while it’s true that Reitman can’t force Columbia to make Ghostbusters III with him, he can make it nearly impossible for the studio to make the film without him. In fact, a source tells us that Reitman and all three original principals (Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, and Harold Ramis …

Eliza Dushku Talks Ghostbuster 3 and Teaming Up Again With Joss Whedon

Eliza Dushku Talks Ghostbuster 3 and Teaming Up Again With Joss Whedon Dan Aykroyd, 57, has been tossing around the possibility of a third Ghostbusters flick since early 2009, but will it finally come to fruition with five new Ghostbusters, as he planned? Eliza Dushku certainly hopes so – especially because longtime friend Dan wants her on board! “I don’t know anything, I don’t have a script – it’s still a rumor thing right now” . She added, “But I would be excited to do it! Dan is a friend since I was a young, and I love [original star Sigourney Weaver] and would love to zip on a proton pack!” Other new projects, Eliza is plotting a feature film further down the pipeline with Dollhouse creator Joss Whedon, 45 – but coyly refuses to tell us its content. “I would say that we would [be working on something new very soon]!” she confided to us. “I think we’re going to work on a kickass feature together that we’ve been thinking about for a few years.” After appearing sexy bad girl programs

Ghostbusters 3 Bill Murphy Confirmed Bill Murphy has confirmed his involvement with the upcoming Ghostbusters 3 film. This is great news for fans out there. In Jaunary we brought you some news from Sigourney Weaver when she spilled the beans on how they were going to take the movie. It's been rumored that Murray’s character Dr. Peter Venkman would appear in Ghostbusters 3 as a ghost. This is another bit of news that he's confirmed. In fact, it was his idea. He explains in the interview that he wouldn't do the movie unless he was a ghost! Here's what he had to say, I ’ll come back in Ghostbusters III only if I get to be a ghost. I said to them, ‘I’ll do it if you kill me off in the first reel.’ So now they are going to have me as a ghost in the film. Please Leave A Comment- Source- mailonline
