Christian Bale To Star In #HOSTILES

Christian Bale will star in HOSTILES , the next writing and directorial effort from Scott Cooper ( BLACK MASS, CRAZY HEART ). Movie Review: 'The Big Short'

The 2007 housing crisis is viscerally played out in this bittersweet, memorizing, and terrific ensemble piece. Review by Matt Cummings As a person intimately aware of the 2007 housing crisis, the story behind The Big Short has served as a narrative for too many of my friends, neighbors, and colleagues. Lured by the promise of cheap money that could be refinanced in a over-priced housing market, many lost their homes when the rates became too high and home values began to plunge. The ensemble drama/comedy The Big Short analyzes both the back and front end of the crisis, hoping to finally get people interested in a topic that still demands our full attention. Set in the years leading up to the 2007 housing crisis, The Big Short follows three stories of investors trying to make money for their clients. The housing market has boomed, allowing literally everyone the chance to own a home. As a result, those who have sought to open the doors to de-regulation have made trem

Christian Bale To Play Enzo Ferrari In Upcoming Biopic

According to Deadline Christian Bale has said yes to playing Italian car magnate Enzo Ferrari in the long-awaited film by director Michael Mann . The picture, which will shoot next summer, isn’t set up just yet. But as we ponder the films up for grabs at the upcoming Telluride, Toronto and Venice Film Festivals, is there a more desirable presale property right now than Ferrari, with Mann and Bale driving the vehicle? Mann has been working under the hood of this film for close to 15 years, at one time in partnership with the late director Sydney Pollack. It is a real passion project for the director and is exactly the kind of picture he should be making. The film takes place in 1957, a year where passion, failure, success and death and life all collided. Several actresses circling the female leads. Mann and Bale previously teamed on 2009’s Public Enemies. I know things didn’t work out for Mann most recently with Blackhat. As a longtime fan of his films, this sounds to me to be

Knight Of Cups Trailer Starring Christian Bale

It feels like we’ve been waiting a long time for Terrence Malick’s latest, but compared to the pauses he used to take between films, a couple of years between To The Wonder and now seems like the blink of an eye. The trailer for the film has now arrived for you to peruse and unpick. It’s very identifiable as a Malick piece: some stark, startling imagery, ruminations on Big Themes and actors being put through their paces. Here, our focus is Christian Bale , a man navigating through the gloss, glamour and gonzo world of Hollywood, but also experiencing its pitfalls. And the synopsis is typically obscure: Once there was a young prince whose father, the king of the East, sent him down into Egypt to find a pearl. But when the prince arrived, the people poured him a cup. Drinking it, he forgot he was the son of a king, forgot about the pearl and fell into a deep sleep. Rick’s (Bale) father used to read this story to him as a boy. The road to the East stretches out before him. Will h

Exodus - Gods and Kings Review: Choppy Biblical Blandness

Exodus: Gods and Kings is utterly forgettable, poorly-cast nonsense. It's not hard to screw up Moses. Slaves wanting freedom against a dictatorial pharaoh, combined with plagues and the parting of the Red Sea. Yet somehow, Director Ridley Scott manages just that with Exodus: Gods and Kings , turning in a poorly-written and horribly-cast dud that wastes our time on so many levels. You've heard the story before: Egyptian warrior Moses (Christian Bale) and his life-long friend Ramses (Joel Edgerton) are soon divided when news reaches the royalty of Moses' birth to the very people which father Seti (John Tuturo) has enslaved to build his massive city. After Moses is banished from Egypt, he begins his long trek to save the Hebrews with Godly help in the form of plagues and murder. As Moses leads his people to a final showdown with Ramses' forces, God intervenes with the mother of all parlor tricks, sending Moses to fulfill his destiny. Scott's writing t

Seth Rogen To Play Steve Wozniak Opposite Christian Bale

Seth Rogen is being eyed to play Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak opposite Christian Bale in Sony's Steve Jobs movie, while Jessica Chastain is also being sought for a role in the film, multiple individuals familiar with the project have told TheWrap . Danny Boyle is directing the film — which is not a traditional biopic — from a script by Aaron Sorkin , who had access to Jobs’ authorized biography by Walter Isaacson. The film is expected to follow Jobs during three stressful, high-profile product launches including the first Macintosh in 1984 and Apple's 2001 debut of the iPod. While neither Chastain nor Rogen have deals in place, the latter actor is in talks to play Wozniak, who created the Apple I computer and co-created the Apple II computer in the mid-1970s. Scott Rudin, Mark Gordon and Guymon Casady are producing the film, which Sony has high hopes for, as it could be a major awards contender. Rogen has proved himself more than capable of handling dramatic r

Christian Bale Cast In Steve Jobs Biopic

UPDATE : Bloomberg has talked to a highly-placed source (one Aaron Sorkin ), who confirms Bale is aboard. “We needed the best actor on the board in a certain age range and that’s Chris Bale ,” Sorkin says. “He didn’t have to audition. Well, there was a meeting.” You can see him use an extended sports metaphor in the Bloomberg video here. But we sort of wish he'd announced it like this. He was talked about back when David Fincher was considering directing the film, and it would appear that Sony is still interested in Christian Bale. The actor is now in talks for the Steve Jobs biopic that the studio is looking to make. Danny Boyle remains in the director’s chair for the film, which Aaron Sorkin has been busy writing. Sorkin’s script, which is based on Walter Isaacson’s bestselling authorised biography of the man, focuses on three big moments in Jobs’ corporate life, including the launch of the Mac, the NeXT (which was introduced after he was removed from the company) and the

All-Star Cast Joins The Jungle Book:Origins

Warner Bros. has cast an entire zoo’s worth of actors for its adaptation of The Jungle Book , which Andy Serkis is directing. Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Naomie Harris, Tom Hollander, Eddie Marsan and Peter Mullan are joining Benedict Cumberbatch to star as the animal characters in the feature. Rohan Chand , the young actor who starred opposite Jason Bateman in Bad Words, will star as the human boy Mowgli. Serkis will also take on a role. Callie Kloves wrote the script, adapting the Rudyard Kipling short stories, while her father, Steve Kloves, the screenwriter who wrote seven of the Harry Potter films for the studio, is producing with Jonathan Cavendish. The movie will employ a mix of motion capture, CG animation and live action. Jungle Book centers on Mowgli, an orphaned boy raised by wolves who befriends members of the animal kingdom who help him grow up. Serkis will play Baloo the bear, and Bale will voice Bagheera, a fearsome panther, both of whom save Mowgli f

Could Christian Bale Star In Travis McGee?

James Mangold , who directed Bale in "3:10 to Yuma," is directing the adaptation of the John D. MacDonald book. Leonardo DiCaprio and his Appian Way banner are producing. The talks with Bale are in the very earliest of stages and the studio has not made him an offer for the role. But he discussed the role with Mangold, who directed him in 2007’s 3:10 to Yuma, and sources say he is keen to do it. The script is based on MacDonald’s 1964 mystery novel The Deep Blue Good-by. DiCaprio was at one point poised to star in the adaptation. Please Leave A Comment- Source- THR
