Charlie Hunnam has revealed that he won't be part of Pacific Rim 2 . Talking with Yahoo Movies at this weekend's Comic-Con (where he was promoting Guy Ritchie's King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword), Hunnam revealed that he had been approached by producer Guillermo del Toro and director Steven S. DeKnight to return, and that initial drafts of the script featured his character considerably. Sadly, it's not the Kaiju threat keeping him from returning, but the age-old problem of scheduling issues. Still, he seems excited to see that the Pacific Rim story will continue. John Boyega is the lead for the new movie, snagging both the lead role and planning to be a producer. Deadline is reporting Guy Ritchie ’s untitled King Arthur film is moving to Presidents Day weekend. Warner Bros said today the film starring Charlie Hunnam as the British folk hero will open February 17, 2017. It’s part of a plan to capitalize on kids on winter break holidays — not just here in the States but also overseas, where the title is being prepped to roll out throughout Western Europe. The pic had been slated for July 22, 2016. After seeing the success of February hits last year like 20th Century Fox’s The Kingsman: The Secret Service , which made $128.3M at the domestic B.O. and another $286M abroad, WB is hoping to emulate similar success with Ritchie’s version of the classic tale. While it has been picking up speed thanks to the casting of Channing Tatum in the lead, 20th Century Fox’s planned new Gambit spin-off film has now locked in a release date – for the States at least – pencilling in an October 7, 2016 slot. And that’s despite the film still lacking a confirmed director – presumably we can expect that announcement any day now. Few details have emerged about the film thus far, though Tatum has described how he sees the character: “Gambit was always like the woman-loving, cigarette-smoking, drinking guy. He was the punk rock of all the superheroes. He’s a thief. He kind of rode the line.” There is still talk he may actually first be seen in X-Men: Apocalypse , though it could just be a brief cameo. It’s just one of a batch of announcements from Fox about their upcoming slate, which also includes word that the third Planet Of The Apes film (to be directed by Dawn’s Matt Reeves) has switched places with the company’s second new Fantastic Four film.
