BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Blue Bloods S05 E12 Recap: Home Sweet Home

Issues continue with Season 5's latest premiere. Review by David Clark In its second episode back from mid-season break the family oriented police drama is back this week with another show. In the 5th season Blue Bloods is still entertaining but as things progress there appears to be a lack of clarity. In previous seasons an over-arching plot has helped drive the narrative from one show to the next. This plot line usually leads up to a satisfying conclusion by the end of the season. The current season has yet to establish that episode connecting plot leaving the audience with somewhat compartmentalized episodes. This week’s episode opens up with Jamie Reagan and his partner Officer Jenko entering a bank in response to a call about a homeless person scaring customers in front of a bank. When they discover the homeless person is just a kid they decide to help. Unfortunately the kid takes off and they have to chase him down. When they finally catch the homeless ch

Update: Supergirl to CBS

Superhero Fever Hits CBS Story by David Clark CBS has decided to dip into the DC Comics superhero franchise. CBS has a running order for a pilot of Supergirl . Given the successes of shows like Smallville and more recently Arrow and The Flash , it should come as no surprise that additional heroes are on the way to the small screen. The announcement of the show came a short time ago but Greg Berlanti, the producer of the new show, recently spoke at the Television Critics Association winter press tour about the progress being made towards the pilot production. In an interview, Berlanti mentioned that the casting is one of the primary focuses at this time. As with other superhero shows the main character is quite distinctive and Berlanti wants to make sure that the actress cast to play Supergirl is the perfect person for the job. Interestingly, important as it is to find the perfect actress, Berlanti made it sound like the pressure is growing to finish casting and get to

Upfronts 2014: Networks Announce Strange New Pilots

What's replacing all those sacked television shows?  We peel back the onion to find out! Story by: Matt Cummings This last week saw all five television networks announce their cancellations and renewals .  That leaves nearly 100 potential new shows in the oven, each vying for our hearts, space on our DVR's, and ultimately our time.  But first each has to appear before advertisers, whose votes will determine which are picked up and those that get sent back to the baker. As we prepared to post this, it became clear that two new trends had appeared in several new shows: first, the stranger their plot, the more apt to be considered.  And like that smelly stuff which has been thrown against the wall, the networks are hoping these will stick.  Second, many of these are rejects of previous pilots, regurgitated and repainted for your pleasure.  Neither of these sound particularly appealing Rather than share all of them, we've hand-picked a selected lot which sadly

Source Code Is Being Developed Into A Television Show

Mark Gordon is bringing his feature film Source Code to the small screen. His Mark Gordon Company, which is locked into an overall deal at ABC Studios, has sold a TV version of the sci-fi thriller to CBS with a meaningful penalty. The news marks ABC Studios' first off-network sale of the development season. Like the film on which it is based, the action/procedural follows three former federal agents who are part of a top-secret program. Each week, they'll use " Source Code " technology to jump into the consciousness of people involved in tragic events. Gordon (Grey's Anatomy, Criminal Minds) will produce the project, with Vendome Pictures' Philippe Rousselet serving as a consulting producer. Steve Maeda (Lie to Me, Lost) is on board to write. This follows a flurry of development season deals for Gordon's company, including a contemporary Miami Vice-style crime drama Untouchable, a Crazy Stupid Love-esque emotional procedural Winging It and an ada

Is The Big Bang Theory Our Generations "Friends"

Is The Big Bang Theory Our Generations "Friends" Once upon a time, a multi-camera comedy about a group of young single friends, the core of them big-bang-theory-castliving across the hall from each other in an apartment building, aired Thursdays at 8 PM and was the biggest show on television. Will that happen again? Is The Big Bang Theory the new Friends ? While the nerdy geniuses from Big Bang seem light years with the cool and sexy bunch from the hit NBC comedy, the two shows have a lot more in common than meets the eye. Both are ensemble comedies largely set at the two apartments across from each other where the main character leave. A guy from one of the apartments starts dating a girl from the other. Both shows have catchy title songs. And now, they both share the Thursday 8PM time slot. Just how ballsy was CBS’ decision to launch a comedy block at 8 PM anchored by Big Bang? The last time the network tried that was 45 years ago with Gilligan's Island at 8 PM. Th

What Shows Will Networks Pickup?

What Shows Will Networks Pickup? With the networks wrapping up their internal screenings, pilots are entering the final stretch when executives factor in testing and testing results as well as scheduling needs to make their picks for next fall. Here is the latest buzz on which pilots are still in contention: FOX Besides the Steven Spielberg-produced dinosaur fantasy Terra Nova, which is prepping for a midseason launch, Fox may pick up only one or two more new drama series, especially if it renews one of its bubble drama series Human Target or Lie To Me. (Human Target is looking a little stronger at the moment.) Midland appears a lock for the one slot, with a possible launch behind Fox's flagship drama House a possibility. Breakout Kings and Shawn Ryan’s Ridealong would duke it out for the potential second slot. On the comedy side, Greg Garcia’s Keep Hope Alive and Mitch Hurwitz’s Wilde Kingdom have emerged as frontrunners, with Traffic Light and Security also in the running
