BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Ellie Kemper Joins 21 Jump Street

Anyone who enjoys the US version of The Office knows that Ellie Kemper has proved to be a great addition to the cast. And she also provided some solid laughs alongside Kristen Wiig and co in Bridesmaids . Now she’s scored another decent role, signing on to the cast of 21 Jump Street . Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are directing the film right now in New Orleans, with Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum playing police officers assigned to work undercover in a local high school to break up a drugs ring. Kemper will play Ms Griggs, a sweet, if sometimes annoyingly sincere chemistry teacher who finds herself attracted to Tatum’s character and is apparently unable to figure out why he seems older than her other students. And it’s a slight comedy reunion for her and Hill, since she had a memorable moment in Get Him to the Greek . The rest of the cast includes Ice Cube, Brie Larson, Rob Riggle, Dave Franco, Johnny Simmons, Dakota Johnson, DeRay Davis and Jake M Johnson . Oh, and

Disney To Deliver Ice Cube's Chrome And Paint

Disney is negotiating to finance and distribute Chrome and Paint , a gritty Boyz N' The Hood-style drama that Ice Cube will direct and star in, based on a script he co-wrote with Eva Vives. The film is a drama about the custom car culture of South Central Los Angeles. Cube will produce with his Cube Vision partner Matt Alvarez. Cube, who directed the 2010 Oakland Raiders documentary Straight Outta L.A. for ESPN, hasn't directed a narrative feature since 1998's The Players Club , which he also wrote. In Chrome and Paint, Cube uses the subculture of tricked out Mercedes, BMW and Low Rider cars to frame a drama about the temptation to place materialism above all else. The film has elements of Saturday Night Fever and American Graffiti. Disney’s interest came out of a general meeting with Cube. Disney exec Louanne Brickhouse, herself a car enthusiast, took an interest in the project as did production president Sean Bailey. Universal also showed interest in the film but has a

Jonah Hill To Get Dirty With The Kitchen Sink

Jonah Hill is in talks to make his feature directorial debut on The Kitchen Sink , the Oren Uziel script for Sony Pictures about the unlikely alliance between a high school-aged vampire, zombie and human as they try to save their town from invading aliens. The script was a top choice on the recently released 2010 Black List. Matt Tolmach is producing, and it was one of the first projects his company acquired after he left his executive job and jumped right in to produce the Spider-Man reboot with Laura Ziskin and Avi Arad. Hill is hot stuff at Sony, co-writing 21 Jump Street , and co-starring in the transfer of the Fox TV drama alongside Channing Tatum and Ice Cube , with Phil Lord and Chris Miller directing. Hill also co-starred with Brad Pitt in Moneyball , the Bennett Miller-directed adaptation of the Michael Lewis book about Oakland A's general manager Billy Beane. That script was written by Steve Zaillian and gets released September 23 by Sony. The title The Kitchen

Ice Cube To Star In 21 Jump Street Movie?

Ice Cube is negotiating to join Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum in 21 Jump Street . In 21 Jump Street, Cube will play the precinct captain role originated by Steven Williams in the TV series that launched the career of Johnny Depp . Ice Cube To Play Precinct Captain In 21 Jump Street Movie?  Phil Lord and Chris Miller are directing the pic for Sony Pictures. Cube livens up the cast, but if they are planning to replicate the series plot about undercover cops that infiltrate schools, I'm still waiting to see if they cast anybody that remotely looks like they might be proofed in a bar. Depp was a baby-faced 24 when he started the series: Tatum is 30 and Hill is 27. Shooting begins in late April and Neal Moritz is producing. Cube will jump into that film after he finishes a role in the New Line romancer New Year's Eve , matched with Hilary Swank. Cube, who directed the 2010 Oakland Raiders documentary Straight Outta L.A. for ESPN, hasn't directed a narrative feature sin

Dynasty Movie On It's Way

Somebody ought to call Joan Collins , because " Dynasty " creators Richard and Esther Shapiro are planning to bring the iconic nighttime soap opera to the big screen, the duo announced on Wednesday. The news comes on the heels of 20th Century Fox's DVD release of "The A-Team," the latest in a series of popular TV shows that have made the jump to features. That list also includes " Charlie's Angels ," " Starsky & Hutch ," " Sex and the City " and Sony's upcoming revamp of " 21 Jump Street ." “The time is right,” said Esther Shapiro. “Nostalgia has always been big, but we want to take it a step further. We want to go back to the beginning with these characters and use the film to trace their roots. We’re taking Blake Carrington back to his young manhood and when he met Alexis, and setting the movie in the 'Mad Men' era of the 1960s. It will give us the opportunity to start fresh, without the constra

Channing Tatum To Join 21 Jump Street Film

Channing Tatum To Go Undercover Channing Tatum has jumped to the top of the list for the lead of Sony Pictures's 21 Jump Street . I'm told that Tatum will soon be in negotiations to star alongside Jonah Hill. Production will begin in the spring. Based on the 1987 Stephen J. Cannell series that was one of the Fox Network's early successes and launched Johnny Depp , the movie was scripted by Michael Bacall based on a story he hatched with Hill. The film will be directed by Cloudy with the Chance of Meatballs helmers Phil Lord and Chris Miller. I'm told that the studio has met with a bunch of potential leading men and that Tatum and Hill matched up well. Both look youthful, which helps since the film is about undercover officers who infiltrate schools to fight crime. Please Leave A Comment- Source- Deadline

21 Jump Street Movie Update

21 Jump Street Movie Update Here is an u;update on the upcoming 21 Jump Street movie. comingsoon got their hand on Jonah Hill and he let them in on a few things. "We're going to shoot it this year I think." says Hill, "We hired directors, Phil Lord and Chris Miller who directed 'Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs' and are friends of mine. They are incredible. Their take on the movie is incredible... It's about cops who go back to high school. Young rookie cops who go back to high school. I think that's a real interesting idea as opposed to saying, that's not what happened in the show so it can't happen in the movie'. Working from a script by Michael Bacall and Joe Gazzam with an original idea by Hill (who is also executive producing), the film will keep the same basic premise as the series but will have a tone that Hill believes will surprise fans. "[Audiences are] not expecting what it's going to be. It's not a parody of the

Is Catherine Hardwicke going to Direct 21 Jump Street Movie?

Catherine Hardwicke 'Isn't Attached' To Direct '21 Jump Street' I have always been a HUGE fan of the TV show 21 Jump Street since I was a Kid, Shit I still watch the series on DVD every now and then. Will Johnny Depp Be willing to Join the cast? Catherine Hardwicke (Director of Twilight ) taking the reins for "The Girl With the Red Riding Hood," you may have noticed that the Variety article also pins the "Twilight" director to " 21 Jump Street." That project, adapted from the '80s TV series about undercover cops operating as high school students, already has a script from Jonah Hill. No other announcements have been made however, so it is surprising to see such seemingly big news revealed in such an offhand way. As it turns out, there was no reveal. Hardwicke's publicist told MTV that "it's too early" to say anything, and that Hardwicke "isn't attached" to the adaptation. While that certainly leav
