Biopic folds reality into fantasy. Review by Brandon Wolfe In 1948 Chile, famed poet and senator Pablo Neruda (Luis Gnecco) has made major political waves. An outspoken man-of-the-people communist, Neruda is not one to shy away from espousing his beliefs to power, making some powerful enemies in the process. This penchant for fierce candidness results in a warrant being issued for his arrest, sending him into hiding alongside his loyal wife Delia (Mercedes Morán) and aided by a vast network of loyalists. Hot on his trail is an obsessive policeman (Gael Garcia Bernal) who despises Neruda for all that he symbolizes. The setup for Neruda , directed by Pablo Larraín (whose Jackie , another unconventional biopic, is also in theaters), sounds like something on par with The Fugitive , with a hunted man just barely keeping one step ahead of the determined lawman out to bring him in. Variety is reporting Anna Kendrick is in talks to star in the untitled Disney Santa Claus film from “ Miss Congeniality ” scribe Marc Lawrence. Currently going by the running title “ Nicole ,” the story revolves Santa’s daughter who is forced to take over the family business when her father decides to retire and brother ends up getting cold feet prior to his first big Christmas Eve flight. Toronto Blue Jay third baseman Josh Donaldson , the 2015 American League MVP, will make his acting debut on next week's episode of HISTORY's hit drama series “Vikings” on Wednesday, January 18 at 9 p.m. ET/PT guest starring as Hoskuld, a Viking warrior of great skill. Two-time All-Star Donaldson filmed the scene in episode 418 titled “Revenge” at the “Vikings” Ashford studios in Wicklow, Ireland in January 2016.
