BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

D.J. Caruso To Direct xXx

According to Diesel , I Am Number Four's D.J. Caruso will direct the action pic. Talking with io9 about his latest, supernatural conflict The Last Witch Hunter , Diesel let slip the news: “I’m excited as hell about xXx,” Diesel says. “D.J. Caruso is directing it, which is exciting. xXx is one of those films you do when you need to have a little fun. When the weight and pressures of all the other things have gone so far that you need to have a character that you can just have fun and more comment on life and comment on the outcome than being in it like Fast’s Dom Toretto Dom is very much the centre of the storm, Xander is more the guide to something else and you’re just with him.” Of course, bringing up Dom there reminds us that, thanks to Fast’s blockbuster status and the fact that it has a 2017 release date hanging over it and a script that is closer to completion, Xander might still have to wait a little longer before he can have fun with his extreme sports/secret agent sty

All Superhero Movies to 2020 (UPDATED...AGAIN)

Guess what happens when we say, "We have the final, final, final version of the list." Story by Matt Cummings Marvel shocked the world (again) this week with the announcement that Ant-Man was getting a sequel, and that the studio had added three more films to its release schedule. We knew our original story back in April couldn't hold, but that's our dumb luck assuming we know the inner mind of the Marvel machine. The The Kree Supreme Intelligence has got nothing on Marvel Studios! Anyways, we've had some time to digest everything and thought it was time to re-re-re-update the master list of DC/Marvel films through 2020. The changes ain't pretty, and there's some interesting suggestions embedded within. Read our thoughts after checking out the list: 2016 February 12: Deadpool (Fox) March 25: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice May 6: Captain America: Civil War May 27: X-Men: Apocalypse (Fox) August 5: Suicide Squad October 7: G

Movie Review: 'Pan'

The re-re-rehash of Pan never, ever captures the magic of the Disney classic. Review by Matt Cummings Some ideas are best left on the storyboards back at the office. A Casblanca remake/sequel? Get out of town. A Ben Hur re-imagining? Sadly, that one's nearing a release. Unfortunately, someone forgot to tell Warner Bros. that a Peter Pan remake was just as bad an idea. The result - Pan - never, ever captures the fun of the original, sacrificing story for only mediocre special effects and plenty of bad press. Rather than stick to a solid, traditional plot, Pan sticks us with several uncomfortable origin story facts: Captain Hook (Garrett Hedlund) actually has two hands and is a genuinely nice guy, and Peter (Levi Miller in his first role) - who wears an on-the-nose reference to his name around his neck - is an abandoned child in WWII England. His mother, a pseudo cameo in Amanda Seyfried, is a bad ass Neverland warrior who decides she can't protect the bo

Giveaway: #TheWalkMovie T-SHIRT

Wanna win a shirt from the Hit film THE WALK ? Twelve people have walked on the moon, but only one man - Philippe Petit ( Joseph Gordon-Levitt ) - has ever, or will ever, walk in the immense void between the World Trade Center towers. Guided by his real-life mentor, Papa Rudy ( Ben Kingsley ), and aided by an unlikely band of international recruits, Petit and his gang overcome long odds, betrayals, dissension and countless close calls to conceive and execute their mad plan. Robert Zemeckis, the director of such marvels as Forrest Gump, Cast Away, Back to the Future, Polar Express and Flight, again uses cutting edge technology in the service of an emotional, character-driven story. With innovative photo realistic techniques and IMAX 3D ® wizardry, The Walk is true big-screen cinema, a chance for moviegoers to viscerally experience the feeling of reaching the clouds. The film is a love letter to Paris and New York City in the 1970s, but most of all, to the Towers of the World Trade

Movie Review: 'He Named Me Malala'

Is the the powerful and inspiring He Named Me Malala also worthy of Oscar glory? Review by Matt Cummings The story behind the Pakistani 17-year-old Malala Yousafzai is inspiring in a way that's hard to find these days. So much of our western culture focuses on wealthy socialites, rap stars, and prima donna athletes that when the genuine article arrives, we wonder if a marketing company had something to do with it. But if the documentary He Named Me Malala proves one thing, it's that its subject seems genuinely inspiring, while making a strong case for Oscar contention. It focuses on the life of Yousafzai, who became an international symbol for advancing human rights, even after a Taliban attack left her nearly dead. Rather than disappear into fear of further attacks, Malala and her father Ziauddin defied the Taliban, and in doing became the youngest-ever recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. That's a tall achievement, especially when a bullet smashes thr

Movie Review: 'Freeheld'

Poor casting and a moot topic make Freeheld nothing more than Oscar bait. Review by Matt Cummings If the Tom Hanks/Denzel Washington winner Philadelphia touched a nerve for its exposure about AIDS in 1993, the Julianne Moore/Ellen Page Freeheld wants to pull our heartstrings about gay rights. Sadly, its poor casting, dull direction, and a recent Supreme Court decision take the wind out of what should have been an admirable project. It's not that the plot isn't worth investigating: a highly-decorated New Jersey police officer (Moore) seeks to grant her pension to her domestic partner (Page), but the Ocean County board refuses to do so, based on her sexual orientation. Unfortunately, Director Peter Sollett and Writer Ron Nyswaner surround their actors with primetime network drama and on-the-nose soapbox statements that suck the life out of any real emotion behind the topic. When Laurel and Stacie first hook up, things feel rehearsed rather than spontaneous; as
