BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Movie Review: A Walk in the Woods

Does a bear take this film in the woods? Review by Brandon Wolfe Travel humorist Bill Bryson (Robert Redford) has fallen into a rut. Retired from both writing and traveling, Bryson has settled into a comfortable domestic life in New Hampshire with his wife Catherine (Emma Thompson) and a legion of children and grandchildren. He would seem, to many, to be living an ideal existence, but after attending the funeral of an acquaintance, Bryson takes an impromptu walk and winds up at the Appalachian Trail, a 2,200-mile stretch that connects Georgia to Maine. Bryson suddenly has an epiphany – he is going to recapture some of his lost youthful zeal and hike the entire trail. His wife thinks he’s gone batty and tells him that if he insists on embarking on such a dangerous trek, he cannot go alone. Thus Bryson reaches out to everyone he knows, and receives an avalanche of “thanks, but no thanks” responses. But out of the blue, a long-lost old friend, Stephen Katz (Nick Nolte, playing a wizene

Josh Gad To Star With Will Ferrell In Russ & Roger

Variety is reporting Josh Gad has closed a deal to play the legendary film critic Roger Ebert in the STX Entertainment comedy “ Russ & Roger .” Will Ferrell is on board to play sexploitation maestro Russ Meyer , with Michael Winterbottom directing. Gad had been in talks to star for some time, contingent on scheduling. A debauched comedy in which truth is crazier than fiction, the film is an outrageous look at two no-holds-barred outsiders who defied the Hollywood establishment to make one of the first X-rated films ever released by a major movie studio (“Beyond the Valley of the Dolls”) — having the party of a lifetime in the process. The film is being produced by Mark Amin’s Sobini Films and David Permut’s Permut Presentations along with Richard Waltzer. The script was penned by Emmy-winning “Saturday Night Live” and “The Simpsons” scribe Christopher Cluess, with Winterbottom, Neil Gibbons and Rob Gibbons doing a polish. Production is set to start later this year. Gad

The worst August in 21 years is fortunately put out of its misery. Story by Matt Cummings 2015 might become the biggest box office draw ever, but August will go down as one of the all-time worst. Theater owners saw empty lines for popcorn and even more depressing receipts last month, as the industry experienced a perfect storm of unprecedented flops, poorly-timed releases, and a lackluster set of films that kept audiences away in droves. The problem actually began in July, which included the under-appreciated ( Southpaw and Self/Less ), the dull ( Paper Towns ), and the just plain awful ( Vacation ). This set the stage for three nearly-instant August duds, The Fantastic Four , Ricki and the Flash , and The Man from UNCLE , before delving into two of the worst weekends of the year. In fact, August 2015 has achieved a set of records that theater owners and Hollywood fat cats would just as soon forget. Here are just a few: August 2015 was the worst since August 1994
