By Brandon Wolfe The customary lag time between Mission: Impossible sequels has averaged roughly five years over the series’ two decades, but it now seems that Ethan Hunt’s missions will start to become far more frequent. Tom Cruise revealed this week on The Daily Show that plans are in place to begin shooting the sixth Mission next summer, presumably for release in 2017. "We're starting to work on [ Mission: Impossible 6 ] now,” Cruise said. “We'll probably start shooting it next summer [in 2016]." No writers nor director are currently attached to the next entry, but given the series’ penchant for constant creative turnover, don’t expect Rogue Nation ’s Christopher McQuarrie back in the saddle.
