The intriguing The Bad Batch – whose title really doesn’t give much of a hint as to its out there concept – already boasts Jason Momoa in the lead. Now an eclectic group of actors is joining him in the film, with Keanu Reeves, Jim Carrey, Suki Waterhouse and Diego Luna jumping aboard. Annapurna Pictures and VICE are producing this one, with Ana Lily Amirpour as the director. Set in a post-apocalyptic Texan wasteland, the film is described as a cannibal love story where Momoa’s Miami Man has been subsisting by eating the people around him. But he’s also developed affection for the human beings he makes a meal out of. Not much more is known about the plot, but we do know Reeves is playing someone called The Dream, Carrey will be The Hermit, Waterhouse is a woman named Arlen, while Luna is Jimmy. No mention is made in The Wrap’s story of when it will kick off shooting, but the production companies are taking the project to the Cannes Film Festival in May to sell the internation

A documentary about the legacy of Tower Records , the retail store that dominated for decades before filing for bankruptcy in 2006, earned a standing ovation Tuesday at the South by Southwest festival. " All Things Must Pass " had its world premiere at the ZACH Theatre in Austin, Texas. It explores the rise and fall of Tower Records, which launched in 1960 in a Sacramento drugstore and eventually opened 200 stores in 30 countries. In 1999, it made $1 billion. Colin Hanks, the Golden Globe and Emmy-nominated actor, directed the documentary, which is his first feature. He spent seven years working on the film and said he decided to make it because of his love for music. "No one else had done it. No one else was doing it," said Hanks, who grew up in Sacramento. Sunday brought us yet another tidbit, this time from the Tom Cruise Mission: Impossible franchise. This shouldn't come as a shock, since the Christopher McQuarrie-directed flick was moved up to July to avoid competition from Star Wars: The Force Awakens , which means we have less than four months before its premiere.
