#TopFiveMovie Trailer Starring Chris Rock

Comedians looking to stretch themselves as actors are a common phenomenon, but it doesn’t always work out well. Chris Rock is one who has managed some success both in front of and behind the camera, and he’s tackling the subject directly in his new comedy drama, Top Five . The first trailer for the film has landed online. Rock, who writes and directs, also plays Andre Allen, a man once described as among the funniest in America, who swapped stand up for wacky box office hits. Now, though, he’s looking to branch out, and isn’t feeling particularly funny. With an impending wedding to a reality TV starlet ( Gabrielle Union ), his agent ( Kevin Hart ) breathing down his neck and a reporter ( Rosario Dawson ) writing a profile on him and probing his life, he’s trying to figure things out. The main man has assembled a funny cast that also includes Romany Malco, Tracy Morgan, J.B. Smoove, Cedric The Entertainer, Jerry Seinfeld, Sherri Shepherd, Whoopi Goldberg, Ben Vereen, Hayley M

Gosling, Hardy, Smith & Robbie Could Join The Suicide Squad

Included as part of Warner Bros.’ big release date announcement for its DC Comics titles , the adaptation of Suicide Squad is already gathering steam, which is handy since it’s currently set as the first film to launch after 2016’s Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice . And apparently the studio is pursuing Ryan Gosling, Tom Hardy, Will Smith and Margot Robbie to star. It is fairly early days for any discussions, though Deadline goes on to mention that they’re all fairly well disposed to signing on, which might seem surprising, but Smith is no stranger to big action fare and Hardy will do blockbuster work if he’s interested in a part. As for Robbie , she’s clearly a Warners favourite after The Wolf Of Wall Street and Focus , in which she appears with Smith. Gosling , meanwhile, is said to be taking meetings on Houdini and Doctor Strange as well as Suicide Squad according to The Hollywood Reporter , so might finally find himself in the blockbuster business. David Ayer is dir

St. Vincent Review. Murray Is The Shining Light

St. Vincent Review By: Brandon Wolfe The film career of Bill Murray has become neatly bifurcated over the last couple of decades. Murray started out as the droll wiseacre in comedy classics like ‘ Caddyshack ,’ ‘ Stripes ’ and ‘ Ghostbusters ,’ a mode he largely remained in until being reinvented as a seriocomic indie darling by Wes Anderson in ‘Rushmore,’ the mode in which he’s operated ever since. Turning in a parade of performances as sad sacks experiencing midlife crises, the contemporary Murray has little in common with the unflappable sly dog we knew and loved in the ‘80s and early ‘90s, and though Murray’s dramatic work has birthed many gems (chief among them, his work with Anderson and his role in Jim Jarmusch’s ‘Broken Flowers’), many fans have longed for the Murray of old to reemerge. In the early going, ‘St. Vincent’ seems like it might meet the two Murrays in the middle, acting as a hybrid of the wily old Murray from comedies of yore and the new, melancholy Mur

Fury Review: Brutal, Barbaric Tank Epic Largely Succeeds

Fury is a brutal, even barbaric, take on the last months of WWII. To those of you who have served or continue to do so, I thank you. The task of defending our country is not an easy one, especially when forced to make tough choices that result in the loss of lives when war is unleashed. The David Ayer WWII tank epic Fury sure doesn't pull punches about those choices, delivering the most brutal affair since S aving Private Ryan . In the final months of WWII, the effort to defeat the Germans has been met not with surrender but with desperation. Caught in the madness of war, tank commander Don "Wardaddy" Collier (Brad Pitt) leads a motley crew of psychopaths: the tank driver Gordo (Michael Pena), the vicious backwater "Coon-Ass" (Jon Bernthal), and "Bible" (Shia LaBeouf), an evangelical Christian with the gift of biblical gab. Suffering the loss of one of their own, Wardaddy is forced to take on fresh recruit Norman Ellison (Logan Lerman)

The Book of Life Review: Standard, Lifeless Animated Fare

Even with stunning animation, the soulless The Book of Life fails to inspire. The animated film The Book of Life suggests that every problem - no matter if it involves the living representations of Life and Death themselves - can be solved with song and a deep love for lost ones. And while I admire such values, it's clear that this soulless and lifeless doesn't get the mix quite right. Based on the Mexican fable of Day of the Dead, Life tells the story of the hero Joaquin (Channing Tatum), the sensitive singer Manolo (Diego Luna) and their shared love Maria (Zoe Saldana). The three youngsters are inseparable, until Maria's father sends her to a convent. When they reunite years later, Manolo is training to take over the family business of bull riding, Joaquin is a successful warrior for the Mexican army, and Maria is a refined but independent woman. As bandits bring war to their town, our threesome must battle death himself (Ron Pelrman) and Manolo must make

Pacific Rim 2 Gets a 2015 Greenlight

Director Guillermo del Toro also hints at Pacific Rim 3 . Although one of the best action films of 2013, Pacific Rim didn't exactly destroy the competition, taking in a paltry $101m domestically. That it did three times that overseas is the only reason why Director Guillermo del Toro has even been able to hint at a sequel. Luckily, he no longer needs to dream about it. According to Collider.com, a sequel to the robot-kaiju flick will begin filming sometime in 2015 with a release date in 2017. This shouldn't come as a surprise, considering Legendary Pictures already announced an animated series which will probably focus on the early years of the conflict. But now, details are beginning to emerge about the sequel: again speaking with Collider, del Toro revealed that filming is slated to begin November or December of next year, and that Co-writer Zak Penn has been working with him on a script. But it was his direct quote about the plot that has fans excited: "

Men, Women, and Children Review: A Preachy, Sobering Teen Tale

Men, Women, and Children will make you want to check your teen's computer... a lot. In Director/Writer Jason Reitman's Men, Women, and Children we see a world where teens and the Internet have become inexorably attached, with one dependent on the other for everything except sustenance. Content to barely communicate outside of their phones and computers, teens live in a world where the sharing of porn and cyber-bullying one another for the smallest offense is a daily exercise right next to bulimia and sex. At least that's what Reitman wants you to believe. In this case, he would be mostly right: the movie does a solid job of frightening every parent into spot-checking their child's phones and diets from now until they're 30. Following the lives of four families in Austin, Texas we learn of the sexually available cheerleader (Olivia Crocicchia) and her failed actress mother (Judy Greer), who posts racy photos of her daughter hoping to win a competition
