Abbie Cornish is re-teaming with her “ Seven Pyschopaths ” co-star Colin Farrell in the thriller “ Solace ,” also starring Anthony Hopkins. Afonso Poyart will direct, with filming set to start in May. Story follows an FBI agent who links up with a doctor with psychic abilities to hunt down a serial killer. It is unknown what role Cornish would play. Beau Flynn, of Flynn Picture Co., Tripp Vinson and Thomas Augsberger will produce from a script by Sean Bailey, Ted Griffin, James Vanderbilt and Peter Morgan. “ Solace ” has been in development limbo for some time (Bailey wrote the script before becoming president of production at Disney) but it now looks ready to rev up. Cornish has gradually moved into leading-lady status, and her roles in MGM’s “Robocop” reboot and Ridley Scott’s Discovery Channel miniseries “Klondike” seems to sustain that argument. Ericson Core ( Invincible ) will direct the feature film remake of the 1991 action-thriller Point Break for Alcon Entertainment, it was announced by Alcon co-founders and co-CEO’s Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove. The new version of the film is set in the world of international extreme sports, and like the original involves an undercover FBI agent infiltrating a criminal ring. The Place Beyond The Pines Review By: MattInRC Overly long and honestly dull, Pines violates a cardinal rule of film-making.  Warning: major spoilers ahead. On paper, the character drama The Place Beyond The Pines seems to have a lot going for it: a deep and very talented excellent cast with a sharp director whose 2010 Blue Valentine was a critical success. But that's where this overly ambitious film about fathers, sons, and the strange path of life runs off the rails, while violating a cardinal rule of film-making along the way. When motorcycle daredevil Luke ( Ryan Gosling , Drive) learns that a one-night stand with fan Romina ( Eva Mendes , Training Day) has produced a son,. he quits the carnival and tries to make a normal life. Unfortunately, he soon realizes that his only option is to partner up for a series of bank heists with his boss. But a deadly meeting between he and newbie police officer Avery Cross ( Bradley Cooper , Limitless) ends with Luke in
