Paramount Pictures and Bad Robot partners JJ Abrams and Bryan Burk are going to make a movie about the epic rise and fall of doping bicyclist Lance Armstrong. They’ve just closed a deal for screen rights to Cycle Of Lies: The Fall Of Lance Armstrong , a proposal for a book that will be written by Juliet Macur for HarperCollins. Macur is a sports reporter for The New York Times, and she has covered Armstrong for over a decade, through the cyclist’s recovery from deadly cancer to his capturing seven Tour de France title. Before you begin drawing together a posse to hunt down anyone involved, we’d caution that nothing is confirmed yet, no deals signed and no details revealed. But according to the team at Vulture , Warner Bros . is negotiating with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment to remake/reboot/re-whatever Gremlins . And yes, we’ve been here before. There has been chatter about Gremlins sequels and reboots in the past with nothing tangible to show for it. There are also the very real facts that A) original producer Steven Spielberg won’t likely part with the rights except under specific conditions and B) Gremlins is a true classic that doesn’t really need rebooting anyway. But you knew that people would keep trying, since Gremlins has huge brand name value and is a cool concept. It’s not that a new take on the idea can’t work, and it’s also not as though the original will simply vanish, but it does feel a little superfluous to requirements to do it over. Warner Bros has locked Liam Neeson to star in the Brad Ingelsby action film Run All Night , and they are negotiating with Jaume Collet-Sera to direct. The studio is aiming for a fall start. While Neeson is getting to the age where you don’t want to run much anymore, he’s thriving as an action star, after Taken and its sequel, and it doesn’t look like he’ll stop running and kicking ass anytime soon. He plays a mob hitman who, in a single night, is forced to take on his former boss. The guy has to protect his son and family, and winds up on the run from the mob and the authorities with his estranged son. Neeson and Collet-Sera are currently shooting Non-Stop for Silver Pictures, and they’ve been eyeing this as a return match. They also teamed for the thriller Unknown.
