Luther will be playing in San Francisco at Slim's on Wednesday, November 7th with Smoking Popes.   Their debut full length, Let's Get You Somewhere Else, came out October 9th on Chunksaah and was recorded and produced by Pete Steinkopf of The Bouncing Souls. Philadelphia City Paper said "the band's debut albuma bounds with ebullience and wise-ass lyrics to go with a host of memorale melodies," while RCRD_LBL called the band's sound "buoyant". Although Luther are a young band, they've attracted some serious attention, being invited to tour with seminal bands such as Hot Water Music, The Smoking Popes, Braid and The Bouncing Souls several times! ABC's Joss Whedon pilot S.H.I.E.L.D . has added another agent to its ranks. ER alum Ming-Na has boarded the Marvel TV adaptation, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. From ABC Studios, the project is based on the long-running comic created by Jack Kirby and revolves around the secret military law enforcement agency dubbed S.H.I.E.L.D., which stands for Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistic Directorate. Whedon is on board to co-pen the pilot alongside his brother Jed Whedon and Jed's wife Maurissa Tancharoen; the trio previously teamed on the three-part web series Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. Avengers and Buffy the Vampire Slayer mastermind Whedon will direct the pilot, should his schedule permit.11 Ming-Na will play Agent Melinda May, an top-notch pilot, weapons expert and soldier who is described as being soulful but damaged by her time spent in combat. We now welcome the full on, gore-soaked red band trailer for the remake of Evil Dead . Take a peek – if you dare. From the looks of this first proper glimpse, the movie, produced by Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell and directed by Fede Alvarez, doesn’t hold back and doesn’t skimp on the horror. It’s also more of a reinvention than a remake, with a group of young ‘uns (including Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Jessica Lucas and Lou Taylor Pucci) standing in for Campbell’s Ash as the unfortunates who head to a spooky cabin in the woods, discover the Necronomicon, read chunks and unleash terrible evil. Plus Raimi and Alvarez certainly appear to have put their cast through similar tribulations to the ones Campbell endured, tweaking elements here and there (the grabby trees seem even worse this time around). The actress-producer has sold The Clan to ABC, marking the Oscar winner's third sale this development season, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively. The Clan is described as a sweeping drama set in the Highlands of medieval Scotland, where the great clans battle one another -- and the Viking invaders. Dan Fogelman will direct his script and Al Pacino, Jeremy Renner and Julianne Moore will star.
