The Princess Bride 25th Anniversary Blu-ray Edition Review

The Princess Bride Blu-Ray Review By: MattInRC Among the quintessential fairy tale parody films,  The Princess Bride  ranks as one of my favorites.  Ready and willing to mock the genre and even itself at times, it's the perfect balance of humor, action, and story that has endured since its initial release in 1987.  Growing up with this film, I must have quoted it every day for a year; with so many quotable classic lines, who could blame me?  As a single-disc edition hits stores this week, we take a look at an enduringly funny film about damsels in distress, a man with six fingers, and a very large wrestler. The Movie - 4/5 A young boy ( Fred Savage ,  The Wizard ) is sick and his grandfather ( Peter Falk , TV's  Columbo ) arrives to raise his spirits by reading him the fairy tale book  The Princess Bride.   But, the story better contain action and sports if it will keep his the boy's attention.  Although it starts off as a classic story of true love between

Total Recall Deleted Fight Scene

The touted reboot of the classic sci-fi flick Total Recall may have failed to impress the critics with its clunky plot, but it definitely wasn't short on sci-fi spectacles and bone-crunching action. Sadly, with only so much running time available, not every action set piece made the cut—but this deleted scene totally should have, and would've only added to the sci-fi insanity. With Len Wiseman's (Underworld) remake hitting Blu-ray on Dec. 18, one of the first deleted scenes has leaked out via MTV, showing off an extended version of the carnage-filled rooftop cockpit fight scene that was teased in the trailers and actually looked pretty awesome on-screen. Watch the clip after the Jump... Get More: MTV Shows The remake, starring Colin Farrell in the role made famous by Arnold Schwarzenegger, may not have been able to match the charm of the 1990 original—but it definitely gets the edge in action.11 Please Leave A Comment- Source- Blastr Via MTV

Fifty Shades Of Grey Has Found Its Writer

Kelly Marcel will write the Fifty Shades of Grey movie, author E.L. James revealed Monday on Twitter. Michael De Luca, Dana Brunetti and James will produce the film for Focus Features and Universal Pictures. Marcel wrote Saving Mr. Banks , the story of Walt Disney’s 20-year pursuit of the film rights to author P.L. Travers’ novel Mary Poppins and the rocky relationship that formed between the two. Mr. Banks, starring Tom Hanks, Emma Thompson and Colin Farrell, is in production at Disney. “Kelly’s work demonstrates her flawless structural technique and passionate commitment to emotion, humor and depth of character, which is particularly visible in the celebrated screenplay for the upcoming Saving Mr. Banks,” De Luca said. “We were all taken with the depth and passion of Kelly’s engagement with the characters and world E.L. James has created, and we knew she was the right person to augment our Fifty Shades family,” said Brunetti. On August 7, The Hollywood Reporter revealed

Toy Story Of Terror Coming In 2013

Though Pixar said an effective (and heartstring-tugging) farewell to the Toy Story characters in the third film, the company hasn’t quite been able to let go. Fortunately, the return trips to the well with the Toy Story ‘toons have been successful so far. Now the Emeryville gang is taking a leaf out of DreamWorks and studio overlord Disney’s books and putting together a TV special for Halloween 2013. So are you ready for Toy Story Of Terror ? The plot finds Buzz, Woody and co on a fun road trip. But when they detour to a roadside motel, things take a turn for the scary. One of the toys goes missing, and the others must work out what’s really going on before they all suffer the same fate… While DreamWorks has capitalised on the scary short form with Shrek and the Monsters Vs Aliens characters, this will be the first time the Toy Story heroes are back outside of the ‘toons and other shorts. Horror – albeit filtered through the TS team – sounds like an odd genre for them, but the

Anne Hathaway Has Low Self-Esteem

Anne Hathaway is attached to star in The Low Self-Esteem of Lizzie Gillespie , a romantic comedy from Good Universe co-written by Mindy Kaling.11 The story centers on a woman whose lack of self-worth has limited her choice in men to losers. When she is about to hit the bottom of the barrel, life takes an unexpected turn when she is pursued by the hottest guy ever.11 Kaling, who likely would take on a supporting role, co-wrote the Black List-charting script with Brent Forrester. The two are exec producing with Good Universe’s Nathan Kahane and Joe Drake. John Malkovich also executive produced via his Mr. Mudd Productions.11 Lianne Halfon and Russell Smith of Mr. Mudd are producing the project, which is still in development and seeking a director.11 Hathaway played Catwoman in the summer hit The Dark Knight Rises and will play Fantine in Universal/Working Title’s adaptation of Les Miserables, which opens Dec. 25. Taken 2 Review. How Bad Was It Really?

Taken 2 Review  By: MattInRCIs  Taken 2 just another sequel? Will Bryan find and kill me for suggesting such? Check out my review to learn more.11 When one considers the predicament of a sequel, there can be no doubt that a sometimes unfair spotlight is cast upon them - unrealistic fan expectations, coupled with those of the studio, usually produce mixed results. However, those sequels which hold their own, sometimes outdoing their brethren, do so for sound reasons: an improvement in the story, deeper character interactions, and a general feel that the stakes have been raised. Think about what works in The Empire Strikes Back, The Bourne Supremacy, Star Trek II, or The Two Towers and one can easily identify these and other commonalities. Apparently, the creative team behind Taken 2 didn't get that memo, choosing instead a route that plays things too safe while producing diminishing returns along the way.  Former CIA agent Bryan Mills ( Liam Neeson , Batman Beg
