The Wolverine Is Not A Sequel To X-Men Origins

The Wolverine's got some making up to do. After X-Men Origins was panned by both fans and critics, the clawed hero needs a fresh start. And according to Hugh Jackman , he's going to get one. In a recent interview with TotalFilm , Jackman discussed the tone of next year's The Wolverine . He claims it won't be a flat-out sequel to its 2009 predecessor. Instead, it will have more of a self-contained story. "We've deliberately not called it Wolverine 2 because we want it to be placed and feel like a standalone picture," said Jackman. "With an all-new cast and setting it in Japan, it's going to give us a whole new visual aesthetic." The actor realizes the property can't thrive on name recognition alone. So they've come up with fresher ideas to get fans to return. That's why they hired screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie. "He's a brilliant writer, and he came up with a concept that was just phenomenal," he exclaimed

Keanu Reeves Talks Bill & Ted 3

Bill and Ted just may be going on another adventure. Will it be excellent or bogus? Keanu Reeves has a few hints for you. In a conversation with GQ , Reeves dropped some story details about the proposed third film in the slacker sci-fi canon, which is now over two decades in the making. A script written by franchise creators Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson, Reeves said, would feature Bill S. Preston, Esq. and Ted Theodore Logan having been "crushed by the responsibility of having to write the greatest song ever written and to change the world. And they haven't done it." Their lack of production would have serious reprecussions, he explained. "So everybody is kind of like: 'Where is the song?' The guys have just drifted off into esoterica and lost their rock." Major tragedy, and one that spurs another time traveling adventure. "We go on this expedition, go into the future to find out if we wrote the song, and one future 'us' re

Dean Winters Needs Your Help For The Heroes Project

I’m excited to pass along an update from an amazing nonprofit we are working with called The Heroes Project , an organization dedicated to helping wounded warriors find a renewed purpose in life by climbing the world’s highest peaks . Actor Dean Winters -- who you may know from those “ Mayhem ” commercials, Rescue Me, Oz and 30 Rock -- just launched a Wish via Causes on Facebook to support the organization. The funds raised will go toward The Heroes Project’s upcoming Indonesia climb with US Army Retired Sgt. Noah Galloway who lost his left arm above the elbow and left leg above the knee in an IED attack in Yusafiah, Iraq. You can check out the Wish page and Dean’s video here: http://bit.ly/THPWish In 2009, Tim Wayne Medvetz started The Heroes Project, a foundation dedicated to raising funds to help wounded warriors climb the world's highest peaks and find a renewed purpose in their lives. The foundation is predicated on the idea that we can make a difference and change

The Hunger Games Scribe To Write "Sinatra" For Scorsese

Universal Pictures has set Billy Ray to script Sinatra , the film Martin Scorsese will direct about the life of singer-actor Frank Sinatra . The film will be produced by Scott Rudin, Mandalay’s Peter Guber and Cathy Schulman, Scorsese’s Sikelia and the iconic singer’s daughter, Tina Sinatra. It was Guber and Schulman who brought in the project to the studio after they secured life and music rights from Frank Sinatra Enterprises, which is a joint venture of the estate of Ol’ Blue Eyes and the Warner Music Group. Phil Alden Robinson had originally been hired as the writer. I take this as a good sign that Scorsese is getting serious about bringing to life the seminal singer of the 20th Century, who parlayed that golden voice into a trip from New Jersey to Hollywood. Where he had the world on a string as he romanced the most beautiful women in town, and cut a swath with his Rat Pack pals and made films that included The Manchurian Candidate, From Here To Eternity and Pal Joey. Keira Knightley To Star Opposite Chris Pine In Jack Ryan Film

Keira Knightley is in early negotiations to star opposite Chris Pine in Paramount's franchise hopeful Jack Ryan. Knightley is no stranger to the world of franchises, having starred in the three of Disney's four Pirates of the Caribbean films. The film would mark the first teaming for Knightley and director Kenneth Branagh , who also has a supporting role in the film. Although the two often inhabit the same world of Brit period corset dramas, they've never worked together. Branagh auditioned a number of women for the part two weeks ago -- including Lost's Evangeline Lilly and Like Crazy's Felicity Jones -- before re-engaging Knightley, who Paramount initially approached. The story centers on ex-Marine and Moscow-based financial analyst Jack Ryan ( Pine ), who uncovers a plot by his employer to finance a terrorist attack designed to collapse the U.S. economy. Ryan must race against time to save America and his wife ( Knightley ). The film is a prequel to
