Ever since Universal announced during CES 2012 that it would deliver many of its classic films on Blu-ray this year as part of a centennial celebration, we've been keeping a careful eye out for news regarding Steven Spielberg's classic E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial . While we still don't know the release date, price or if it will contain the changes made in the 2002 edition of the flick, Universal posted a trailer for the Blu-ray  that confirmed a digital remastering from the 35MM film, 7.1 surround sound and "hours of bonus features". Additionally, forum posters on Blu-ray.com have noticed this (probably not final) box art appearing on Amazon UK recently. Lifetime is in the early stages of developing Clarice , a drama based on the Clarice Starling character that earned The Silence of the Lambs star Jodie Foster an Academy Award for best actress. Clarice would follow the exploits of a young Clarice Starling soon after she graduates from the FBI academy. The show's development comes as NBC preps the 13-episode series Hannibal , which also takes place in the world of author Thomas Harris' Hannibal Lecter series of books. But Hannibal, from Bryan Fuller, won't include the Clarice character, and instead focuses on the relationship between Hannibal and FBI criminal profiler Will Graham (played by Hugh Dancy). MGM is producing Clarice, which Lifetime boss Nancy Dubuc first hinted may be in the works during the network's upfront presentation. With so many questions surrounding the 2012 Hollywood summer film lineup, you might forget about one of the most intriguing: Can a film franchise, without a major contribution in 10 years and a poorly received second effort, become relevant again? If recent examples (such as Indiana Jones and Rocky) are any indication, filmgoers are in for another disappointment. In fact, resurrecting the Men in Black franchise is not something one would bank on as a surefire hit. The franchise is not even in the top 25, with the Home Alone and Alvin & The Chipmunks series beating MIB by $100 million or more. So, is Men in Black 3 a rousing return for the boys in black, or is the 10-year gap too long to sustain this franchise? The answer is in the affirmative: smart, a little sassy, and full of the qualities that made the original a hit, Men in Black 3 is fun summer fare that era
