BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Henry Cavill To Take On The Great Wall

After becoming a heroic warrior in Immortals and slipping into Superman’s suit for Man Of Steel , it would appear that Henry Cavill is ready to come back to Earth for a bit. He’s now in talks to star in The Great Wall. As announced last August, Love And Other Drugs director Ed Zwick has co-written the script with regular scribbling pal Marshall Herskovitz, and it’ll look at the mystery behind how China’s famous wall was built over years and under different rulers. The original idea for the film was hatched by Legendary Pictures founder Thomas Tull and World War Z novelist Max Brooks, with Tull handing it over to the China-based Legendary East to shove into production. As for Cavill's role in the film, for now that’s anyone’s guess since no plot details have been released. But there’s plenty of history surrounding the structure, which was begun to protect the northern borders of the Chinese Empire in the 5th century BC. It’s been changed, demolished and rebuilt several times

Bradley Cooper's Paradise Lost For Now

The big-budget film Paradise Lost , which was slated to start shooting in January but was pushed till early summer, has been scrapped, I’m told. The epic-sized Alex Proyas-directed film about the battle between good and evil inspired by the John Milton poem was to star Bradley Cooper as Lucifer, Benjamin Walker as the archangel Michael, Diego Boneta playing Adam and Camilla Belle Eve , with a host of other actors lined up for the action epic. Legendary made the decision after trying to bring the cost of the movie down to $120 million, tops. The producer/financier spent low eight figures to get this far but had never green lit the film and therefore should not be on the hook for pay or play talent deals. It is possible that the film could return down the line, as Best Picture nominee Moneyball, American Gangster and some other pictures have done after being scrapped just short of a production start. But Paradise Lost might be halted for a while, until technological advancements in

Jason Statham To Star In Heat Remake

Don’t panic, Michael Mann fans: Brian De Palma and Jason Statham are not planning the unthinkable by cooking up a new version of his classic crime pic. Nope, the Heat they are actually planning to remake is a 1986 Burt Reynolds drama. The plot will find Statham play a recovering gambling addict who remains on the fringes of the circuit providing protection to players who can afford his services. His quirk is he refuses to use a gun, sticking to his fists and a few trusty knives. But then a friend is nearly killed in a beating from a mobster, and our hero swears revenge. William Goldman adapted the original screenplay from his 1985 book (which trivia fans may wish to note was published over here as Edged Weapons), and he’s back on writing duty this time around, updating the tale to the present day. So could it be called Reheated? This isn’t the first time Statham’s filled someone else’s shoes in remake territory: last year saw him taking on a former Charles Bronson role in The

Morgan Freeman Joins Tom Cruise In Oblivion

Tom Cruise Morgan Freeman will bring his regal presence to Oblivion , the Joseph Kosinski-directed film for Universal Pictures that stars Tom Cruise, Andrea Riseborough and Olga Kurylenko . Cruise plays the last man on a post-apocalyptic and nearly uninhabitable Earth, who stays behind to repair ships that hunt down and blast a virulent alien species. I haven’t yet been able to figure out what role Freeman will play, but I’m told it’s a critical part. Michael Arndt is currently rewriting a script that had earlier drafts by William Monahan and Karl Gajdusek. Peter Chernin and Dylan Clark are producing through Chernin Entertainment along with Barry Levine and Kosinski. Jesse Berger and Dave Morrison are executive producers. Freeman’s last starring role in a Universal film was Wanted, and before that he twice played God in Bruce Almighty and the spinoff Evan Almighty. Please Leave A Comment- Source- Deadline

George Lucas Answers 5 Burning Questions

THR got a chance to sit down with Uncle George and ask him 5 hot questions that everyone wants to know the answer to. With yet another re-invigoration of the massive Star Wars franchise —hello, 3-Delirum! — the Star Wars creator confronts the controversy of content changes (again), shares his views on SOPA and gives an update on Indiana Jones 5 . In this 3D conversion of what is Episode 1 — The Phantom Menace, were there any changes made to any characters or the plot, or was it just a conversion? George Lucas: Changes are not unusual — I mean, most movies when they release them they make changes. But somehow, when I make the slightest change, everybody thinks it’s the end of the world. That whole issue between filmmakers and the studios with the studios being able to change things without even letting the director of the movie know … I’m very much involved in that [so that’s not happening here]. … My job is to try to make the best possible movie it can be — and the current ver

Naomi Watts To Play Princess Diana

A Princess Diana movie has been germinating for a few years now, but it's taken a giant step towards fruition with news that Naomi Watts has signed on to play the people's princess in Oliver Hirschbiegel's Caught In Flight . If you've been following the project, you'll know that Jessica Chastain had been heavily linked with Ecosse Films' dramatisation of the last two years of Diana's wife. Chastain is very much the actress of the moment, with an Oscar nomination to her name, but scheduling conflicts prevented her involvement. Watts, meanwhile, is eight years older than Diana was during the period being depicted, but offers a more-than-decent physical resemblance to the Princess of Wales and boasts serious acting chops. It's undoubtedly a plum role in a film that will hoover up attention on both sides of the Atlantic. Please Leave A Comment- Source- Empire
