THE GREY Movie review By: RAMA

THE GREY Movie review By: RAMA What did RAMA think of THE GREY ? Make sure to follow him on Facebook and Twitter . At times it feels like a long episode of Man Vs. Wild but the film’s occasional detour to drama about mortality and faith and questions about what happens when you die while trying to survive through dangerous elements keeps me fixed on THE GREY . The Grey Lands On Top Of The Box Office

America can relax. Its long national nightmare period in which Liam Neeson failed to punch anyone or anything is over for now. Yes, The Grey , which finds Neeson and a group of other oil rig workers surviving an air crach in harsh Alaskan wilderness only to face down a pack of hungry, hunt-happy wolves, stalked to the top of the US box office this weekend, earning $20 million. Last week's champ, Underworld: Awakening , still held strong, seeing off other new competitors to take second place and $12.5 million. Katherine Heigl's latest, Janet Evanovich adaptation One For The Money , had to be content with third despite a strong Friday showing, and made $11.7 million. George Lucas' Red Tails was fourth with $10.4 million and new arrival Man On A Ledge was a little lower than everyone had hoped, with the thriller launching in fifth with $8.3 million. Stephen Daldry's 9/11-influenced drama Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close jumped a couple of places, likely helped

X-Men: First Class Sequel Has It's Director

That is changing, and the quality of the recent films released by the studio has improved. Fox has just closed a deal with Matthew Vaughn to come back and direct the sequel to X-Men: First Class , with Simon Kinberg writing the script and Bryan Singer back as producer. The studio is so delighted with the job that Josh Trank did on the upcoming under-$20 million thriller Chronicle that he is being eyed for a big assignment, possibly the reboot of Fantastic Four . The studio has made a priority of the sequel to last summer’s hit Rise of the Planet of the Apes, with Rupert Wyatt back behind the camera. Fox, after ending the year with the Cameron Crowe directed We Bought a Zoo , has the upcoming Ridley Scott-directed Prometheus ; and the studio got Timur Bekmambetov to direct Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter . Joe Carnahan To Direct Death Wish Remake

The weekend is already shaping up nicely for Joe Carnahan , the director of the Liam Neeson survival thriller " The Grey " which is poised to take the box-office crown. Now Carnahan has landed a new gig: He's being hired to write and direct a remake of " Death Wish ," the 1974 vigilante picture that helped put Charles Bronson on the map, according to a person familiar with the project who asked not to be identified because he was not authorized to speak about it publicly. MGM and Paramount are developing the film, which will reboot Michael Winner's box-office hit. The original starred Bronson as Paul Kersey, a liberal architect who morphs into an assassin after his wife and daughter are brutally attacked. Bronson's character then undertakes a one-man mission to hurt and kill a host of criminals on the streets of New York. The movie was a cultural phenomenon of sorts, helping birth the modern action movie and also provoking criticism for its intense

Hangover Cast In For A Huge Payday For The Third Film

Warner Bros. is going to pay a hefty bar tab to get another Hangover. Dealmaking on the studio’s third installment in the raunchy comedy franchise is wrapping up after dragging on for months due in part to the salary demands of its three stars. Sources close to the negotiations say Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms are asking for $15 million each (against backend) to reprise their roles, and they now are likely to get it. That’s a big raise from 2009’s The Hangover, which was made for about $35 million and paid the headliners under $1 million each (Cooper made the most because he had the biggest name recognition at the time). When the R-rated bachelor-party comedy unexpectedly grossed $467 million worldwide, the studio found itself without talent deals for a sequel. Negotiations were heated for The Hangover Part II, released last May, with the three principals each scoring around $5 million, according to a source, plus back-end compensation that raised their haul into
