Cody Horn has joined the cast of Magic Mike , the male stripper drama based on the experiences of Channing Tatum , who also stars in the Steven Soderbergh-directed film. The actress, recently cast in the Jake Gyllenhaal-starring drama End of Watch , will play the sister of an up-and-coming male dancer played by Alex Pettyfer , whose character is based on Tatum. (He stripped for nearly a year when he was 18 to make ends meet.) Tatum , who is also producing, will appear as the film's titular character -- a mentor to the dancer played by Pettyfer and the love interest of Horn's character. Mike will also feature Matthew McConaughey, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello and Riley Keough . Also producing are Nick Wechsler, Gregory Jacobs and Reid Carolin, who is writing the script. Marvel and Disney brought out cast members from The Avengers at the D23 expo on Saturday, impressing the 2500 gathered fans with a first look at the all-star superhero movie. Tom Hiddleston, Colbie Smulders, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johannsson, Chris Hemsworth and-- lastly and to a standing ovation-- Robert Downey Jr. , came out on stage at the Anaheim Convention Center's arena. There wasn't much time for talking or a Comic-Con-style Q&A but Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige did show a scene from the movie, which is two weeks away from wrapping up principal photography. (Feige revealed his Disney nerd cred by telling the crowd he had legendary Disney songwriter Richard Sherman write a song for Iron Man 2 and Alan Menken composed a song for Captain America.) The scene revealed Hiddleston as Loki, squaring off in a high-security cell with Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury character, over the nature of Loki's search for a power source. This weekend saw the Walt Disney Company hosting its D23 convention, a sort of mini-Comic-Con focused on Mouse House products and movies/TV shows. The definite highlight was Saturday morning’s big studio presentation, where a lot of new movies were showcased, including The Avengers and The Muppets . But possibly most exciting was the announcement of two new films currently in active development by the Pixar team. The first, which will be directed by studio veteran Bob Peterson, focuses on dinosaurs, which lends credibility to the rumours that the company was working on something dino-related that sprang up last year.
