ABC is going back to familiar territory, adapting The Lincoln Lawyer . As first reported by TV Guide, Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino is working on a drama adaptation of the 2003 novel by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus, while the network has ordered a script from Lionsgate to convert The Lincoln Lawyer in to a drama series, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. Lincoln Lawyer , based on the Lionsgate feature starring Matthew McConaughey, has grossed $58 million at the domestic box office, will be written by film scribes John Romano & Michael Connelly, who penned the novels. Gary Luchessi/Lakeshore Entertainment is attached to produce through Lionsgate. Lincoln Lawyer is crime writer Connelly’s 16th novel and revolves around Los Angeles attorney Mickey Haller, the half-brother of Connelly’s famed detective Hieronymus “Harry” Bosch, driving around the city in a Lincoln Town Car driven by a former client working off his legal fees. We told you last week that we were enjoying the current 4th season of Eureka , were looking forward to the 5th (filming now), and were wondering what was up with the reportedly shortened 6th. Now we (sadly) know. Syfy today released the following statement. After painstaking consideration, we have had to make the difficult business decision to not order a season six of Eureka . But Eureka is not over yet. There is a new holiday episode this December and 12 stellar episodes set to debut next year, marking its fifth season and six memorable years on Syfy. The 2012 episodes are some of the best we've seen, and will bring this great series to a satisfying end. We are very grateful to Bruce Miller and Jaime Paglia, their team of incredible writers, and an amazing cast and crew who have consistently delivered a series we continue to be very proud of. Up-and-coming actress Stephanie Szostak in negotiations to play the female lead opposite Ryan Reynolds in Universal’s supernatural action movie RIPD based on the Dark Horse comic. Robert Schwentke is directing the project, which follows a murdered cop ( Reynolds ) who is recruited to work in the Rest in Peace Department, a police force comprised of ghosts who battle spirits unready to depart this world. Jeff Bridges is playing Reynolds' ghostly partner. Szostak will play Reynolds’ wife who can sense that he is still around and to whom he is trying to communicate with in regards to his murder. Neal Moritz and Mike Richardson are producing. David Dobkin, Keith Goldberg and Ori Marmur are exec producing. The movie is eyeing a September start in Boston. French-born Szostak has appeared in The Devil Wears Prada and Dinner for Schmucks. Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon and Tye Sheridan are in talks to star in Mud for writer-director Jeff Nichols. Everest Entertainment is financing and producing the film. Mud follows a fugitive named Mud ( McConaughey ) who is befriended by a fourteen year old boy ( Sheridan) as he attempts to reunite with his soul mate Juniper ( Witherspoon ). Nichols wrote the original screenplay and will direct. Lisa Maria Falcone from Everest is producing with Sarah Green and FilmNation Entertainment’s Aaron Ryder. Glen Basner from FilmNation, which is handling international sales, is an executive producer.
