I got some exciting news in my email today, I received the press release that  Focus Features  and  LAIKA are reteaming again for two more films.   An interesting thing about  LAIKA is it is fueled by the vision of its owner, NIKE Co-Founder and Chairman Phil Knight . We all learn something new everyday. First up is  ParaNorman,  In the comedy thriller, a small town comes under siege by zombies. Who can it call? Only misunderstood local boy Norman (voiced by Mr. McPhee ), who is able to speak with the dead. In addition to the zombies, he’ll have to take on ghosts, witches and, worst of all, moronic grown-ups, to save his town from a centuries-old curse. But this young ghoul whisperer may find his paranormal activities pushed to their otherworldly limits. Summit Entertainment has set Scott Speer to direct the fourth installment of the Step Up franchise. Like the last one, Step Up 4 will be done in 3D. The new film will be set in the backdrop of Miami. Speer is replacing Wade Robson, who dropped out for personal reasons that would have kept him from making the planned summer start date. The script's being written by Jenny Mayer and produced by Offspring Entertainment's Jennifer Gibgot and Adam Shankman, along with Summit's Patrick Wachsberger and Erik Feig. Jon Chu, who directed the last two Step Up installments, will be exec producer. Speer is a music video/commercials director who has helmed vids for Jordin Sparks, Will.I.Am, Jason Derulo and Orianthi Lacey, and he also collaborated with Chu on the TV episodes The LXD: The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers. Anna Faris is in negotiations to play the female lead in The Dictator , the new comedy Sacha Baron Cohen is doing for Paramount. Larry Charles , who directed Borat, is back in the helming saddle for the Paramount movie, which has been described as "the heroic story of a dictator who risked his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed." Cohen is said to play dual roles of a goat herder and a deposed foreign ruler who gets lost in the U.S. Ben Kingsley and Jason Mantzoukas are also in the movie, playing fellows from the Middle East. Faris will play the owner of a Whole Foods-style store in New York. The movie is being done in a similar manner as Borat in the sense that Cohen and his team are looking for people with very strong improvisational skills. Saoirse Ronan has been set to star in The Host , the screen adaptation of the bestselling novel by Twilight Saga author Stephenie Meyer . Scripted by Andrew Niccol, the film figures to be one of the hot titles when Inferno launches sales at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival next week. Niccol, who was originally set to direct, might resurface as the filmmaker. Ronan , the Oscar-nominated star of Atonement , The Lovely Bones and most recently Hanna , will play Melanie Stryder, one of the last humans putting up a fight against an alien species called Souls. These parasites invade human bodies, fuse to each person's consciousness and systematically erase their personalities. The rumours have been buzzing like hornets for ages, spurred along by Quentin Tarantino dropping hints for years about wanting to pump out his own version of the classic Spaghetti Westerns. Despite earlier title and casting reports, the official word has now come down thanks to the front page of the script emerging on Twitter – QT’s next project will be called Django Unchained . There are no real plot details floating around just yet (despite the fact that the script seems to be in the hands of people who could easily spill such things), but given the title, it’ll most likely riff on Sergio Corbucci’s 1966 Spaghetti Western Django, which saw Franco Nero as a Gatling gun-slinger who goes through seven shades of hell. Nero has been linked to Tarantino’s Western project ever since he talked up the idea, so it’s probable that he’s going to be returning to the role.
