Daniel Radcliffe is attached to star in the indie comedy " The Amateur Photographer ." Christopher Monger will direct from his own screenplay, based on his novel of the same name. The 1970-set tale follows a young man who discovers his artistic calling after being drafted by the denizens of a sleepy little New England mill town to serve as photographer of their most intimate moments. He battles local authorities while bringing a bit of a velvet revolution to the community. Ted Hope and Anne Carey will produce through their This Is That Prods. banner, while Karen Montgomery will also produce. Radcliffe recently starred in " Harry Potter and the Dealthy Hallows: Part 1 " and will soon be seen in "Part 2," which is set for release July 15. Kick-Ass and X-Men: First Class writer/director/producer Matthew Vaughn tells me that a major Hollywood studio is very keen to fully fund his next big project: The Golden Age about a retirement home where superheroes end up. And the title is also a reference to early comic books of the 1930s when Superman and Batman first appeared. It's based on the yet-to-be-published comic book written by Brit TV chat show host Jonathan Ross, who’s a huge comics buff. Vaughn is currently in LA editing X-Men: First Class for Fox, but tells me he wants to get actors attached to the new project before the script is written. His wish list is Clint Eastwood, Jack Nicholson, and Warren Beatty to play the retired superheroes who help out their grandchildren when their middle-aged parent screw up the world. Ray Liotta is the most recent actor to join the cast of the crime thriller Cogan's Trade . Brad Pitt, James Gandolfini, Javier Bardem, Sam Rockwell, Casey Affleck, Mark Ruffalo, Vincent Curatola and Richard Jenkins also star in writer-director Andrew Dominik's adaptation of the 1974 George V. Higgins novel. Pitt's Jackie Cogan is a professional enforcer who must investigate a heist that took place during a high-stakes poker game under protection of the mob. Liotta will play Mark "Markie" Trattman , the unfortunate hustler who runs the game in a motel room and finds things only going downhill from there. After losing helmer Carl Rinsch in the fall due to scheduling conflicts, Warner Bros. and producers Joel Silver and Akiva Goldsman are lining up Nicolas Winding Refn to sit in the director’s chair for the sci-fi project, which is now being developed as a vehicle for Ryan Gosling , who just closed a deal to star. Danish Refn made some noise with his gritty prison drama Bronson , which starred Tom Hardy , and is making his Hollywood debut with this year’s action thriller Drive , which stars Gosling. Run would be a step-up to the tentpole leagues for Refn, while also acting as the same for Gosling, who has been very picky with his studio entries. Alex Garland has written the script, which is said to hew closer to the 1967 novel by William F. Nolan than the 1976 feature starring Michael York, Jenny Agutter, and Farrah Fawcett. Ice Cube is negotiating to join Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum in 21 Jump Street . In 21 Jump Street, Cube will play the precinct captain role originated by Steven Williams in the TV series that launched the career of Johnny Depp . With the incredible response that the Volkswagen Darth Vader commercial has had the last few weeks. I have uncovered the outtakes that didn't make the commercial. Meet Max Page , the 6-year-old boy who plays a bite-sized Darth Vader in the commercial. Max has a congenital heart defect that forced him to get a pacemaker at an early age. That hasn't stopped him from pursuing his dream to become an actor. He's already appeared on ' The Young and the Restless ,' starred in a handful of commercials. The Last Voyage of the Demeter may be getting ready to finally set sail. David Slade , who directed vampires in 30 Days of Night and Twilight Saga: Eclipse , is in talks to tackle the blood-sucking genre again with Phoenix Pictures' long-in-the-works period horror movie. The lead role is not cast but Ben Kingsley and Noomi Rapace are attached to co-star. Phoenix is in active talks with actors for the lead role.
