"Halo: Reach" Breaks Records " Halo: Reach ," Microsoft's prequel to one of the video game industry's biggest franchises, recorded more than $200 million in sales in the U.S. and Europe on its first day. Microsoft late Wednesday highlighted that the sales for the first 24 hours make "Halo: Reach" not only its biggest game release ever, but also the biggest U.S. entertainment launch of the year. Its one-day gross exceeded the opening weekend box-office hauls of Hollywood blockbusters such as " Iron Man 2 ," " Alice in Wonderland " and " Toy Story 3 ," the company emphasized. The new game, which hit stores Tuesday, also exceeded the previous "Halo's" first-day haul of $170 million, which had set an opening record in 2007. Sacha Baron Cohen To Play A Queen Are you ready for Borat to play a queen?  Sacha Baron Cohen has closed a deal to play Queen front man Freddie Mercury in a film that’s being scripted by Peter Morgan for a 2011 production start. The untitled film will be financed by GK Films partners Graham King and Tim Headington, who'll produce in partnership with Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal’s Tribeca Productions, and Queen Films. Morgan is already working on a script focused on the band’s formative years, leading up to Queen’s appearance at Live Aid in 1985. Queen’s performance is considered one of the rock's all-time great live concert appearances. A rights package has been set that includes the band’s tunes, including Bohemian Rhapsody, We Will Rock You, We Are the Champions , Another One Bites The Dust and You’re My Best Friend. Goosebumps To Get Hollywood Treatment Screenwriter Carl Ellsworth " Red Dawn " (Will this film ever get released? Call MGM) and " Disturbia " co-writer has come aboard to write the screenplay for a live-action feature adaptation of the R.L. Stine book series " Goosebumps " for Columbia. Scholastic publishes the hugely popular kids' horror books, which number in the dozens and have sold more than 300 million copies worldwide, second only to the "Harry Potter" series in total sales. Columbia picked up film rights to the series in May 2008 and is looking at a family-driven potential franchise. The property has spawned video games, TV shows, additional book series and straight-to-video films, but this would be the first big-screen treatment.
