Disney's Sleeping Beauty Remake "Maleficent" To Be Directed By Tim Burton

Disney's Sleeping Beauty Remake "Maleficent" To Be Directed By Tim Burton This news is going to make my wife go crazy, first she is a Huge Disney fan and second our oldest daughter is name Aurora after Sleeping Beauty herself. Harry over at AICN reports I have heard that Tim Burton is developing another classic Disney fairy tale in a quasi Live Actiony kinda way. It seems that Tim has a hankering for SLEEPING BEAUTY ... but not really... You see, he's going to tell the story from Maleficent's point of view. In fact, it'll be called MALEFICENT . She was always the most interesting character in that story, but we never knew why she hated those three little fairy wenches... or what indignity she suffered at the hands of Aurora's parents. Yeah, I'm on board... if only it ends with Maleficent with a sword in her heart in dragon form. Cuz that'll rule. Think about how long this plotline was carried out over. She has quite a tale to tell. Let's see w

Matt Damon and Brad Pitt To Lend Their Voices To Happy Feet 2?

Matt Damon and Brad Pitt To Lend Their Voices To Happy Feet 2? My little girl has been a huge fan of this film since she first laid eyes on it. Every Penguin she s ee's is called Mumbo . Dam film started her hoarding addiction with penguin dolls. Should I give A&E a call? So to my joy they are making a second film, and I can't wait to add to her collection. Matt Damon and Brad Pitt haven’t made a movie together since Ocean’s Thirteen, but Movieline hears that the two actors have both been cast in an upcoming film directed by George Miller. No, not Miller’s Mad Max reboot starring Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron. I’m warning you, temper your expectations a little. Pitt and Damon will both be voicing characters in Miller’s Happy Feet 2, a 3-D sequel to his 2006 animated film. They’ll be joining original cast members who include Robin Williams and Elijah Wood. Warner Bros. refused comment on the casting, but Movieline sources say that it’s a done deal — in fact, both Pitt a

Simon Cowell Recruiting Old Friend For X Factor

Simon Cowell Recruiting Old Friend For X Factor Simon Cowell is talking to familiar faces to sit beside him at the judges table on Fox's "The X Factor." Cowell is in discussions with his former "American Idol" co-star Paula Abdul and his current "X Factor" U.K. co-star Cheryl Cole for judging positions on the show, which launches on Fox in fall 2011. Hiring Abdul and Cole would assure a certain degree of comfortable chemistry between Cowell and other judges on the new series. Abdul in particular would allow Cowell to reform the heart of the longtime "Idol" judging team, which was split when Abdul quit the show in August amid contract dispute. This is Cowell's final season on "Idol." The judges on "X Factor" are if anything more crucial to the success of the show than on "Idol" because each mentors a group of singers and effectively becomes part of the competition rather than simply grading from the sidelines.

Yellow Submarine Has Found It's Crew

Yellow Submarine Has Found It's Crew It's "all together now" for the cast of Robert Zemeckis' upcoming Beatles feature. Cary Elwes, Dean Lennox Kelly, Peter Serafinowicz and Adam Campbell are in negotiations to portray the members of the band in "Yellow Submarine," which the director is remaking for Disney. The original 1968 animated movie was based on the music by the Beatles and featured a storyline wherein a soldier called Old Fred meets up with the Beatles and travels in a yellow submersible to Pepperland. Among the group's encounters are the music-hating Blue Meanies. As with his recently released "A Christmas Carol," Zemeckis is making the movie using 3D performance-capture technology. The helmer, who also wrote the screenplay, is producing with his Imagemovers Digital partners Jack Rapke and Steve Starkey. The Beatles tribute band the Fab Four will be motion-captured as the ensemble for the musical performance sequences though -- si

Paranormal Activity 2 Found It's Director

Paranormal Activity 2 Found It's Director Paramount has hired screenwriter Michael R. Perry and director Kevin Greutert to create the sequel to 2009’s biggest surprise hit, “Paranormal Activity,” which scared up $151 million in worldwide grosses in the fall on a shoestring $15,000 budget and a shrewd, opt-in Web marketing campaign. Significantly, Paramount will unleash it in theaters on the pre-Halloween weekend of October 22, which sets it against that date’s reigning champion in previous years, the next installment in Lionsgate’s “Saw” series (this year would be “VII”). In a symbolic twist, Greutert made his directorial debut on the sixth “Saw” film, which grossed just $31 million worldwide, with observers thinking that the franchise may be bleeding dry. Jason Blum and Oren Peli, who masterminded the first “Activity,” are producing the second iteration. Steven Schneider will serve as executive producer. “These guys get it, and the fans won’t be disappointed,” said Peli of Perry

Transformers 3 Less Explosives and Robots

Transformers 3 Less Explosives and Robots So can we expect more thunderous sound in the third installment? Although the number of robots increased significantly from the first film for the second, the third film -- which will hit theaters in summer 2011, won’t be as robot-heavy and there will be fewer explosions, a tight-lipped Bay said after the Q+A. Not very thrilling, huh? The hunky pieces of metal in the "Transformers" films lose a lot of their thunderous power without all that sound. It's the clinks and whooshes and BOOMS caused by the massive appliances that complete the larger-than-life experience of the films. Director Michael Bay recently joined sound re-recording mixers Greg P. Russell and Gary Summers, and supervising sound editors Ethan Van Der Ryn and Erik Aadahl to discuss the sound art (and science) of "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" at the Cary Grant Theatre on the Sony Pictures lot. “I have like 2,000 people — through their artistry — maki

Teresa Palmer Lands Lead Role In Mad Max 4 Fury Road Jay Baruchel told reporters interviewing him for the new Dreamworks film How To Train Your Dragon that Palmer, who splits her time between Australia and Hollywood, was preparing for a gruelling shoot on the new Mad Max episode. "She gets to work with him, and she's (going to be) doing Mad Max 4 with Miller," Baruchel said. The actor, who counts Palmer as a very good friend after working with her on the Sorcerer film, said he didn't know the character's exact name, but believed it was the female lead. "She's the main chick in Fury Road," he said. "She's going to be there for over a year. It's really, really cool." Details are secret so it's not known if Palmer will replace or star with Charlize Theron,

The Lovely Bones Movie Review By:Windy

The Lovely Bones Movie Review By:Windy Windy has been a busy girl this week. I don't know when she finds the time to write reviews for my site and work on her own . We are so glad she is a part of the SandwichJohnFilms team. “The Lovely Bones”, based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Alice Sebold and directed by Peter Jackson, is the story about a family dealing with the crisis of their murdered 14-year old daughter, Susie Salmon, and her father’s hunt for her killer. Most of the story is told from Susie’s point of view after her murder, as she watches her family struggle to cope with her loss and search for her killer. She is stuck in what her younger brother refers to as “the in-between” – a place between Earth and heaven – because she refuses to let go of her family or her killer. Susie, played by Saoirse Ronan (“Atonement”) gives a moving portrayal of a spirit running a gamut of emotions, starting with confusion, moving to fear, and ultimately release.
