Jerry Bruckheimer To Make "Alien Legion" Into A Film

Jerry Bruckheimer To Make "Alien Legion" Into A Film Looks like Comic Books Made into Films is not near it's end yet. Launched in 1984 as the pet project of series creator Carl Potts, Alien Legion has developed a cult following over the years. The series redefined the military science-fiction genre, telling tales of war and space exploration through the eyes of a rough-and-tumble intergalactic foreign legion. Imagine a much grittier Star Trek blended with The Dirty Dozen and Kelly's Heroes . Its popularity is evidenced by it being the longest continuously running series in the history of 1980s Marvel imprint Epic Comics. Alien Legion will soon find its way to the big screen, as well. " Alien Legion has been optioned for some time," Potts confirms. "The script is currently in its third rewrite." In a recent interview with film fan-site Heyuguys.co.uk, Derek Haas revealed that he and writing partner Michael Brandt ( Wanted , 3:10 to Yuma ) are r

McG Sunk Another Ship. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea On Hold

McG Sunk Another Ship. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea On Hold McG Killed The Terminator Franchise with one swoop ( he is attached to “Terminator 5") and it doesn't look like Disney wants anything to do with him for this film. Let's hope that is the reason they put the film on hold. Disney has put “Captain Nemo: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” in dry dock. The picture, tentatively scheduled to begin production in February, has been halted indefinitely, and McG is no longer steering the ship. The studio confirmed that the studio won’t proceed with the film for now, and reps for the director confirmed he has withdrawn. McG will concentrate on other projects that include “Dead Spy Running,” a Warner Bros. drama that Stephen Gaghan is writing. McG is also attached to “Terminator 5,” though that movie is on hold indefinitely as the Terminator franchise works its way through bankruptcy court. McG just teamed with “Borat” helmer Larry Charles on a new NBC comedy. McG, who

J.J. Abrams Talks Star Trek 2 And Mission Impossible 4

J.J. Abrams Talks Star Trek 2 And Mission Impossible 4 I really enjoyed J.J Abrams job on the New Star Trek movie and hope that he does come back to do the second film. I am most curious about the on going of Mission Impossible 4. While it's widely assumed that J.J. Abrams will be directing the next "Star Trek" film, that's not necessarily the case. Abrams is one of the busiest people in Hollywood, yet he always takes time to graciously talk to press. Tonight, we asked him about Star Trek and a few other projects he's involved in at the DVD/Blu-ray release party. Q: What's the status on "Mission: Impossible IV"? J.J. Abrams: We are working on the script and we have an incredibly cool story. It's literally being written right this second. Q: What are the elements that would have to line up to make you direct the next "Star Trek" film? Abrams: The truth is, the idea of anyone else directing the next "Star Trek" film breaks my he

“Captain EO” To Make Return To Disneyland

“Captain EO” To Make Return To Disneyland I reported on this back in September and it's going to happen the beginning of next year. Click Here to read Story The word from Hollywood is that Disneyland is planning to revive Michael Jackson’s 3D film beginning in January. Heavily influenced by “Star Wars,” the 1986 short film was produced by George Lucas and directed by Francis Ford Coppola. Back in those days, Michael had the money from “Thriller” to make anything happen. Among the cast: Michael, Anjelica Huston, Dick Shawn -- the latter died less than a year after “Captain EO” was released. It’s the 3D version coming back to Disneyland, but you can watch a less complex version on YouTube (see below). “Captain EO” was pulled from Disneyland years ago. But with Jackson’s “This Is It” up to about $220 million worldwide, interest in him is rekindled. It’s another tragic irony for Jackson. And, believe it or not, the “This Is It” companion CD looks like it sold well over 125,000 copies l

Death Race 2 Casting Has Begun

Death Race 2 Casting Has Begun Who is going to play Frankenstein? Fancy stepping into Jason Statham's shoes? Handy behind the wheel of a souped-up motor? Might be time to get yourself an agent then, as casting has just kicked off for Death Race: Frankenstein Lives, the sequel to last year's epic of twisted metal, burning rubber and unlikely plot contrivance. Here's the plot description so far: "Newly arrived at Terminal Island, a prison for the most unredeemable [sic] of convicts, Carl 'Luke' Lucas must prove his mettle in a race to the death". Lucas is described in the casting notes as a "right-hand man to a notorious mobster for twelve years", given life-imprisonment for killing a cop in a botched bank robbery. He's offered a deal by the DA if he turns state's evidence, but opts to take his chances behind bars, resulting in VAROOOM and KERSMASH. Initial talk was of a prequel, setting up the corrupt and lethal prison dragracing system in

Brain Cox As A Dwarf In The Hobbit?

Brain Cox As A Dwarf In The Hobbit? So, speculating hat on. There are a bakers' dozen dwarves in The Hobbit: Fili, Kili, Oin, Gloin (Gimli's dad), Dwalin, Balin, Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, Dori, Nori, Ori, and of course, main-man Thorin Oakenshield. [Spoilers coming if you haven't read the book]. Most obvious of those roles for an actor of repute would be Thorin (it's pronounced Thaureen, you know): haughty, stern and officious; all traits that Cox has played before with aplomb. He fights alongside Gandalf in the goblin tunnels and dies a heroic death at the Battle of the Five Armies. But he's also a bit annoying and rubbish: getting himself captured before anyone else at Mirkwood, making serious diplomatic gaffes at Laketown and throwing a big strop when Bilbo nicks the Arkenstone. Anyone who spent hours playing the Spectrum game in the 80s, in which Thorin spent vast tracts of time sitting on his arse singing about gold and refusing to help you out of the goblin's
