BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Wanda and Sheneneh To Get Their Own Film. Remember Them?

Wanda and Sheneneh To Get Their Own Film. Remember Them? It all started with a skit on the BET Awards Show and now it's turning into a film. I did enjoy Wanda and Sheneneh when they were on their respected shows, but to make a movie with both of them. Wow unheard of. Screen Gems has picked up the rights to Sheneneh And Wanda, a comedy about two African-American ladies who start robbing banks. Oh, and the ladies in question will be played, in full-on drag, by Jamie Foxx and Martin Lawrence. Both Sheneneh and the cross-eyed Wanda have been knocking about for years – Lawrence came up with Sheneneh on his self-titled TV show, while Foxx played Wanda during his In Living Color days – but nobody had the bright idea of combining the two in an actual, honest-to-goodness movie until June of this year, when the two graced the BET Awards by making a fake trailer for a fake movie, Skank Robbers, which united the duo. Reaction to the trailer – which actually has a couple of decent lines in it,

"Sgt. Rock" Coming To A Theater Near You

"Sgt. Rock" Coming To A Theater Near You “Sgt. Rock,” a long-gestating project based on the World War II hero from DC Comics, is moving forward … by going into the future. The only down side to this film being made is that it will be set in the future not during WWII. I feel that this direction will kill the film. Francis Lawrence is attached to direct, and Chad St. John, who wrote the spec “The Days Before,” is charged with writing the new take. Joel Silver, who has been steering the project for nearly 20 years, is teaming with Akiva Goldsman, who recently boarded as producer, to bring the project to the big screen via Warner Bros. Sgt. Frank Rock was the leader of his infantry unit, Easy Company. He first appeared in a 1959 issue of “Our Army at War.” In 1977, the comic was renamed “Sgt. Rock” and ran until 1988. Until now, “Rock” has retained its World War II setting, with Silver and the studio trying to make a big-budget action adventure movie that was a throwback to flic

Spiderman-4 Rachel McAdams Or Romola Garai To Play Black Cat?

Spiderman -4 Rachel McAdams Or Romola Garai To Be Black Cat? The Rumors are starting to go around. We can exclusively reveal that actress Rachel McAdams has met with the producers of the film for a major role. McAdams (of 'Wedding Crashers' and 'Sherlock Holmes' fame) is said to be a top contender for the role of Felicia Hardy, known to comic fans as The Black Cat . Fans recall that when Spidey first encounters the Black Cat, she's a cat burglar looking to free her ailing father from prison. She becomes smitten with the web- slinger , to the point of a stalker-level obsession. Later stories had Peter reciprocating her affection and her becoming a lover, a friend and ally (the perfect thing to allow Sony to create a Spidey spin-off). Not only that, but Romola Garai has auditioned for the role. Garai is a 27-year-old British actress who starred in Amazing Grace, The Other Man and Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights. In the latest issue of The Observer, Garai shar

Steven Tyler Has Quit Aerosmith

Steven Tyler has quit Aerosmith It comes just months after the singer spoke out publicly to dismiss reports the band was on the verge of splitting following a year of cancelled tour dates, injuries and accidents. In August (09), Tyler broke his shoulder after falling off stage while performing in South Dakota, and the group was forced to scrap the remainder of its summer tour. Perry admitted that following the accident he and Tyler didn't speak for more than a month, prompting rumours the band's future was in jeopardy. And it seems fans' fears were justified - guitarist Perry has revealed his pal has left the rock group after its performance as part of the Formula One racing season's final weekend in Abu Dhabi last weekend. He tells the Las Vegas Sun, "Steven quit as far as I can tell. I don't know any more than you do about it. I got off the plane two nights ago. I saw online that Steven said that he was going to leave the band. I don't know for how long,

'Glee' Helps Struggling Music Industry

'Glee' Helps Struggling Music Industry Its characters may feel like a bunch of unloved high-school misfits, but the quirky musical TV comedy " Glee " is putting smiles on the faces of music industry executives searching for new revenue in an era of plunging album sales. Two months into the 2009-10 TV season, "Glee" is drawing a weekly audience of 8.6 million viewers to the Fox television network. Fans have bought more than two million tunes sung by the show's cast on iTunes, and soundtracks are being compiled and sold in traditional stores. Revenues are being split among Fox and the record company, and artists and music publishers are being paid licensing fees for songs "Glee" uses in musical numbers in each episode. "Record labels have been desperate for new revenue," said Steve Knopper, contributing editor for Rolling Stone magazine. "They are trying to figure out any way to make money and one pretty reliable way is to sync up

Winona Ryder To Star In "Black Swan"

Winona Ryder Is Going To The Ballet. "Swan" centers on a young dancer at the New York City Ballet (Portman) who may or may not be having delusions about a rival dancer (Kunis). The project, which began life at Universal before being reconceived as an indie, has drawn comparisons to "The Others" and other high-end supernatural thrillers. The specialty division is close to climbing aboard Darren Aronofsky 's " Black Swan ," in final negotiations on an agreement to co-finance and distribute the supernatural thriller set in the world of New York ballet. The pic, which stars Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis, has also rounded out its cast. Winona Ryder has signed on to play an older dancer to Portman's and Kunis' younger performers, while Barbara Hershey and French actor Vincent Cassel are also joining the cast. Shooting is scheduled to start in New York before the end of the year, with a budget estimated to be $10 million-$12 million. Searchlight ha

Jake Gyllenhaal To Star In "Source Code"

Jake Gyllenhaal To Star In "Source Code" Jake Gyllenhaal is in negotiations to star in sci-fi thriller "Source Code" for Vendome Pictures and the Mark Gordon Co. "Source Code" centers on a soldier who wakes up in the body of an unknown commuter and is forced to live and relive a harrowing train bombing until he can determine who is responsible for it. Project had originally been set up at Universal in early 2007 when the studio bought Ben Ripley's screenplay and attached Topher Grace to star. Universal tapped Shane Abbess to helm last year. Current script includes revises by Billy Ray ("State of Play"). "Source Code" will launch the Vendome slate, according to Rousselet, who said the project exemplifies the types of producers and filmmakers with whom Vendome plans to work. He and co-CEO Fabrice Gianfermi plan to produce a minimum of a dozen films over the next five years. Please Leave A Comment- Source- Variety

Avatar Will Cost 500 Million After All Is Said And Done

Avatar Will Cost 500 Million After All Is Said And Done When James Cameron makes a movie he goes big. "Titanic" is a great example. But he definitely makes his money back in the end and then some. Mr. Cameron’s “Titanic,” which took in more than $1.8 billion at the worldwide box office after its release in 1997, was a major corporate event for the News Corporation, then about a third the size of the current conglomerate, which has roughly $30 billion in annual sales. Less than a year after the release, the News Corporation raised nearly $3 billion in a public offering of shares in its filmed entertainment group, partly on the strength of “Titanic.” (It bought those shares back four years ago.) Will Avatar do the same? Movies looks great and I am looking forward to seeing the film when it comes out this year. Can a movie studio make money on a film based on an original and unfamiliar story, with no Hollywood superstars, a vanishing DVD market and a price tag approaching $500
