The Watch Trailer Starring Stiller, Vaughn & Hill

We got our hands on another trailer for the film Richard Ayoade’s new comedy, Neighborhood Watch. But that movie doesn’t exist anymore. Or at least, the title doesn’t. Now the movie is simply called The Watch . The foursome are still part of a neighbourhood watch group formed less from a sense of community responsibility and more from the chance to escape their dull suburban lives and enjoy a little bit of a power trip. But they get far more than they bargained for when they discover evidence that something decidedly otherworldly is going on.. Watch the trailer after the Jump... While the whole alien element has been kept low-key, this latest promo blends the lads exchanging some predictably raunchy banter with some solid evidence that their seemingly quiet little ‘burb has been invaded by some non-human new residents. As for the title swap, that’s been forced by the real-life shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in Florida last February. You can see why a film that f...

G.I. Joe: Retaliation Moved To 2013

The sequel G.I. Joe: Retaliation was supposed to come out this summer on June 29th . But I’ve learned that Paramount is moving the movie nine months to March 29, 2013 , to add 3D. “We’re going to do a conscientious 3D job because we’ve seen how it can better box office internationally,” one of the studio execs just told me. “Jim Cameron did all of Titanic‘s 3D in post — and look how well that movie turned out.” Hollywood is shocked that Paramount vacated the primo date, especially because Paramount blew a wad on a Super Bowl commercial and already was starting TV and outdoor ads for GI Joe 2. Paramount has had luck delaying films before: its decision to move Martin Scorsese’s Shutter Island gave the director his biggest box office hit ever. And right now, 3D is huge internationally, with Russia and China building new 3D theaters by the week. Also the execs say that the blockbuster performance of The Hunger Games shows that March can be a prime time of the year to release movies...

THE DICTATOR Movie Review

THE DICTATOR Movie Review By: RAMA How did RAMA think this film compared to other Sacha Baron Cohen film? Sacha Baron Cohen is back and hilarious! THE DICTATOR cracks me up and that’s a good thing considering Bruno was a huge let down. Half political satire, half social commentary, and all around comedy, Cohen’s brand of rude humor at times feels like a series of sketches and though THE DICTATOR will not get you laughing the entire time, the character and the concept themselves will tickle your funny bones, one thing for sure, this is definitely a movie not for the uptight and the easily offended.. The heroic story of a dictator who risks his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed. It’s not that much mockumentary style this time around, which I appreciate because after Bruno and Borat, that style does get old. Just the character himself, General Aladeen, is brilliant in my book, Cohen has always been skilled when it comes to...

In the course of fulfilling his father’s last wishes, Sam uncovers a startling secret that turns his entire world upside down: He has a 30-year-old sister Frankie whom he never knew about ( Elizabeth Banks ). DARK TIDE Blu-Ray Review

DARK TIDE Blu-Ray Review By: RAMA Did RAMA get swept away by the tide? Great white sharks never get the best reputation in movies, so DARK TIDE is yet another portrayal, sadly this is one film that gets lost in long winded boring dialogue, with only a few, very few mildly interesting shark encounter shots but they’re not exactly worth the wait. I’m not sure which Halle Berry movie is worse, Catwoman or DARK TIDE… If you’ve come to see Halle Berry in bikini or wearing some tight diving outfit, that accentuates her sexy curves, you’re probably not going to be disappointed because that’s pretty much all that the movie could offer you. The rest, the whole question of ethics, and the trauma over the loss of a friend, the ex-boyfriend using a friend’s skills to make money and the rich stubborn father-son relationship are all over the place, they’re a mess, from the script to the directing to the performances, this movie tests your patience and throws it out the window, I’m not surpri...

Ryan Reynolds Up For Highlander Reboot

He may not have met with huge success with in last stab at an iconic character ( Green Lantern ), but that isn’t deterring Ryan Reynolds from considering another. The actor is in talks to take on the lead in Summit Entertainment’s Highlander reboot. With Intruders’ Juan Carlos Fresnadillo calling the shots from Art Macum and Matt Holloway’s script, the new version of the 1986 fantasy action classic is being kept largely under wraps, though naturally there will be immortal types fighting to behead one another because there can, after all, be only one. Reynolds, who has the success of the recent Safe House as a card to play in negotiations, is nowhere near locked in according to Variety: he’s only in early discussions about the role and has a variety of other jobs under consideration, not to mention a legion of Deadpool fans who are getting increasingly frustrated at the slow progress of the Marvel character’s stand-alone film. Reynolds will be heard in two DreamWorks ‘toons, The...

Tom Cruise On Board For The Magnificent Seven Remake

Chalk one more title up on the board marked “Remakes.” Though this one is more of the wheel of cinematic life turning, as The Magnificent Seven is remade by Hollywood. MGM has decided to dip once more into the cupboard of title rights it owns and is now developing a new version of John Sturges' 1960 classic with Tom Cruise attached to star. Before you get all up in high dudgeon about the desecration of a classic, remember that The Magnificent Seven is itself a remake of Seven Samurai . This one is still at a very embryonic stage, with no director or writer attached, though Variety has heard that the company is even now kicking off the hunt for someone to scribble the script. So we don’t yet know whether it will exactly follow the plot of the original, which sees a group of American gunmen hired to protect a Mexican village from a group of bandits. There’s also no word on which of the movie’s meaty characters Cruise is interested in. He already has plenty of active and po...

Tim Roth Has A Fall From Grace

If Tim Roth can sneak away from his duties as head of the Un Certain Regard jury, he’s likely to be found huddling with director Jennifer Lynch , since he’s been tapped to star in his next project A Fall From Grace , which is looking to begin filming this summer in St. Louis, Mo. Roth is to play a homicide detective on the trail of a serial killer. “It’s about a lot of dark, taboo issues, but it’s really a drama about wounds,” says Lynch, who’s scheduled to be joined by Roth, schedule permitting, for a Wednesday panel at the American Pavilion. Eric Wilkinson has written the screenplay and will produce the project with his Apothecary Films partner David Michaels. Please Leave A Comment- source- THR

Sandra Bullock & Melissa McCarthy Team Up For Buddy Cop Film

Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy are teaming for a buddy cop comedy about the strained working relationship between an uptight FBI agent and an unconventional Boston cop. Bridesmaids' Paul Feig will direct and executive produce the Fox project, which was written by Parks and Recreation writer Katie Dippold. A summer shoot is planned, meaning the project is being fast-tracked to fit into the busy schedules of McCarthy, who stars on CBS' Mike and Molly, and Feig, who is developing several projects. This will mark a reunion between Feig and his Bridemaids breakout star McCarthy, a best-supporting actress nominee for her comedic role. At the top of Feig's list is a remake of the hit French comedy Intouchables, about a quadraplegic aristocrat and his ex-con caregiver. That movie could possibly shoot in the fall. Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping and Dylan Clark are producing for Chernin Entertainment. Bullock won an Oscar in 2010 for the drama The Blind Side but she h...

Natalie Portman To Star In Jane Got A Gun

If you had asked us what Lynne Ramsay might pick as a possible follow up to We Need To Talk About Kevin , a Western would not have been high on the list. But it’s true – the director is aboard Jane Got A Gun , which now boasts Natalie Portman as star and producer. While the movie is still swirling away in development, the combination of Brian Duffield’s Black List script, Ramsay and Portman is proving a potent pheromone, attracting studios and distributors. Jane focuses on a woman whose outlaw husband is betrayed and nearly shot to death by his own gang. When the double-crossing posse heads to the couple’s farm to finish the job, the wife takes matters into her own hands, while also reaching out to a former lover for some gun-slinging assistance. Ramsay also has an untitled sci-fi project based on Moby Dick bubbling on her creative stove, but with Portman involved and all the interest in Jane, you’ve got to figure it has a shot at getting made first, assuming the schedules wor...
