New Edge Of Tomorrow Trailer

Tom Cruise is having a shocker. Oh, and look, he's having another one. And another. The new trailer for Doug Liman's new sci-fi actioner Edge Of Tomorrow shows the mortal coil becoming a big loop as his starship trooper finds himself caught in the same combat mission over and over, always with the same result: his death. Edge Of Tomorrow is adapted from Hiroshi Sakurazaka's novel All You Need Is Kill , and was known by the same name for a long time. The story finds Cruise as Bill Cage, a soldier happy to be working far from the front lines in a brutal war against powerful aliens. Cage, who has scored a plum job overseeing the army's PR, makes a series of mistakes and ends up in full battle armour on the front line, where he promptly dies. Emily Blunt's Rita Vrataski, a poster woman for the military, helps guide him through this psychologically damaging glitch. By the looks of the trailer, she may end up owing Cage one or two things too. Please Leave A

Edge Of Tomorrow Is Here. Live Die Repeat

Tom Cruise’s latest, Edge Of Tomorrow , has now arrived online Directed by The Bourne Identity’s Doug Liman , Edge Of Tomorrow is adapted from Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s novel All You Need Is Kill , and was called the same name for a long time. The story finds Cruise as Bill Cage, a soldier happy to be working far from the front lines in a brutal war against powerful aliens.

Cage, who has scored a plum job overseeing the army’s PR, makes a series of mistakes and ends up in full battle armour on the front line, where he promptly dies. Caught in a Groundhog Day-style time loop, finds himself back in time and, with the help (and training expertise) of Special Forces fighter Rita Vrataski (Emily Blunt), he begins to figure out the secret to fighting the bad guys, smack-dab in one of the most important skirmishes of the conflict. It helps that Rita has apparently been experiencing the same time-tripping effects, which seem keyed to the invaders’ tech. Can they make it work and save m

New Images From Edge Of Tomorrow

Building to a trailer due to arrive soon, some new imagery from Doug Liman’s sci-fi action thriller Edge Of Tomorrow , starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt , has arrived online. Edge Of Tomorrow , adapted from Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s novel All You Need Is Kill , finds Cruise as Bill Cage, a soldier happy to be far from the front lines in a brutal war against powerful aliens. Cage, who has scored a plum job overseeing the army’s PR, makes a series of mistakes and ends up in full battle armour on the front line, where he promptly dies. Caught in a time loop, he begins to figure out the secret to fighting the bad guys, smack dab in one of the most important skirmishes of the conflict. Along for the ride is Special Forces fighter Rita Vrataski ( Blunt ). It’s a distinctly different role from most for the actress. "I've discarded the bonnet and corset for an exosuit and a huge sword, it seems," Blunt tells USA Today . "I was looking for something very dif

Christian Bale In Talks To Climb Everest

Universal Pictures and Working Title are teaming with Emmett/Furla Films on Everest , a mountain climbing disaster film that The Deep helmer Baltasar Kormakur will direct, with Christian Bale in talks to star. Working Title partners Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner will produce with WT’s Liza Chasin, along with Evan Hayes. Emmett/Furla’s Randall Emmett and George Furla are in discussions to co-finance the film and join in a producing capacity as well. Justin Isbell wrote the most recent script draft. Bale is in early talks to star in a tale based on the 1996 disastrous expedition to scale Mount Everest. Three different expeditions were hit by a sudden blinding storm and by the time it was all over, eight climbers died. The tale was first made famous by Jon Krakauer’s Into Thin Air, his first-person account of being among the lucky ones to make it back down the mountain. This film will be sourced from various books and interviews with survivors. There is another studio film entitled

Tom Cruise In All You Need Is Kill Picture

Doug Liman has directed Vince Vaughn doing up his flies at the side of the road in Swingers and Matt Damon tearing up Paris in a conked out mini in The Bourne Identity , but there's nothing in his back catalogue quite like this new All You Need Is Kill pic: Tom Cruise running away from a massive explosion in a mech suit. For those not in the know, All You Need Is Kill is based on the critically-acclaimed novel of the same name by Japanese sci-fi author Hiroshi Sakurazaka, which sees its hero Lt. Col. Bill Cage ( Cruise ) forced to fight (and die) over and over again as contact with alien invaders (known as 'Mimics') traps him in a hellish time loop. This may strike some as being rather similar to the likes of Groundhog Day and Source Code (except, you know, with aliens), but as you can see from the astonishing pic above, there's a whole lot of sci-fi action to look forward to as well as the brain-bending time-wimey-ness. On hand to help Cage is Special For

Tom Hardy Climbs Everest

Tom Hardy is in early talks to star in Everest for Sony Pictures. He will play George Mallory , the climber who tried three times in the 1920s to become the first man to scale the world’s highest mountain. Doug Liman will direct the film after he completes All You Need Is Kill at Warner Bros with Tom Cruise . An adaptation of Jeffrey Archer’s book Paths Of Glory, Everest has been adapted by Sheldon Turner (Up In The Air). Jennifer Klein is producing, and Dave Bartis, Liman’s partner at Hypnotic, will also be a producer. Liman, the Bourne Identity and Mr. And Mrs. Smith helmer who is himself an avid climber and fan of the Mallory story, has an actor who is a strong match for the intensity that burned in Mallory to get to the top of the mountain and beat another great climber, Australian George Finch (the grandfather of actor Peter Finch). Everest has been scaled many times since, but it is still dangerous–there are plenty of bodies near the final summit of those who got close b

Why Hollywood Needs Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise would make a great Survivor contestant. Despite his peculiar public image and less-than-stellar domestic box office in recent years, the 49-year-old has four big studio movies hitting theaters in the next 18 months: Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol in December, the now-filming One Shot for Paramount, June's Rock of Ages for New Line and the untitled Joseph Kosinski sci-fi epic for Warner Bros. And THR has learned that Warners is again talking to the actor for the lead in its big-budget sci-fi war pic We Mortals Are (aka All You Need Is Kill), being directed by Doug Liman . "The studios are interested in him again," says one producer. What a turnaround. When Mission: Impossible III opened in May 2006, the actor had been under siege for his over-excited Oprah appearance, his public stumping for Scientology and his anti- psychiatry rant on Today. MI-3's $398 million worldwide gross was nearly 30 percent less than the previous film's global t

Doug Liman To Climb " Everest"

Doug Liman has climbed aboard Everest, a Sony Pictures drama about George Mallory and his three attempts in the early 1920s to become the first man to climb the world’s highest mountain. The film, an adaptation of Jeffrey Archer’s book Paths Of Glory , has a script by Sheldon Turner. Jennifer Klein is producing. Liman has several projects percolating, including Luna, a moon mission film that Paramount Pictures and New Regency are trying to make work, as well as Warner Bros’ Dante Harper-scripted drama All You Need Is Kill. Liman, who directed the action hits The Bourne Identity and Mr. and Mrs. Smith , is himself an avid climber and a fan of the Mallory story. He is in the midst of a deal to supervise the next draft by Turner with the intention to direct a film that is a priority at Sony Pictures. The film is about Mallory’s burning obsession to climb to the top of Mount Everest, and a rivalry with another great climber, Australian George Finch (the grandfather of actor Peter Finc

Black Panther Film In Development Will Djimon Hounsou Get The Lead Role?

The company has hired Mark Bailey , who hails from the documentary film world, to pen a take on the character, the king of a resource-rich fictional African country who becomes a super hero. Marvel's Kevin Feige is producing. The Black Panther first appeared in the pages of the Fantastic Four comic in 1966 and is considered the first black hero in mainstream comics. A movie version was in development at Columbia in the early 1990s with Wesley Snipes on board to star in an Indiana Jones-style adventure. Snipes remained attached to Panther even when the property transferred to Artisan Entertainment, best known for making The Blair Witch Project. At the time it had several Marvel films in development. Marvel reacquired the rights to Panther in 2005 when it absorbed a host of character licenses from Lionsgate, which bought Artisan in 2003. Back in  2010 BET was set to release an animated version of   The Black Panther on it's channel but it never made it. Of all places

Jumper 2 To Be A Darker Film Are you ready for a " Jumper " sequel?  I thought that the first film did not live up to they hype I was expecting a lot more with Doug Liman directing the film. But it was well worth a rent for sure. Now it looks like there is talk about a sequel getting made. "We're talking about it right now actually," he said. Where could the story go? "Hopefully somewhere a little darker. I think there's a lot you can do with it. It was sort of set up in a way it's gonna be mother hunting son and possibly even maybe sister hunting brother. We're talking about it, trying to figure it out."  Early 2008 sci-fi release directed by Doug Liman ? Hayden Christensen stars as a young man who, thanks to a genetic hiccup, is gifted with the ability to teleport himself anywhere in an instant. Hunting Christensen is Samuel L. Jackson , who believes that only the Lord Almighty should be able to be everywhere at once. The movie wasn&

Doug Liman To Roll Into "Attica" Film

Doug Liman To Roll Into "Attica" Film Sounds like a werid combination to have Doug Liam and Geoffery Fletcher ( Percious ) screenwriter to be teaming up together. They are moving forward with a film about the 1971 Attica prison riot, which is being independently financed. Liman, is best known for directing the films "Swingers" and "Jumper" and he recently finished a Sean Penn thriller called "Fair Game" that will likely be at Cannes, makes a move in a gritty direction with the real-life story of hot-button guards and prisoners.
